I emailed Midway Customer support and ask why they are out of so much stuff all the time.

Here is the response.

Thanks for your email.

We apologize for the shortages. Right now we're consistently running record sales. March 31 was an all time record day for us. Depending on the products you were looking for, we're just not maintaining enough inventory to meet demand. I don't know if it's pre-election jitters or if everyone has their income tax refund burning a hole in their pocket, but we'll try to get our inventory levels up to meed demand. We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience.

Please let us know if we can be of further help. Thanks for your business!

Sincerely,
Brian

Yep, It's a Dionysian hump-fest on reloading it seems.

Solution given patience: put everything you want on your wishlist and check the site daily. I've scored all my wants that way.

With the cost of ammo rising faster than my blood-pressure, a lot of people are getting into reloading.

Being lazy, I'm getting into 22LR.

Agreed...many people are starting to reload due to massive increases in ammo prices over the last couple of years. But even when Midway is out of stuff, they always seem to be pretty quick about getting new supplies. YMMV.

The part I find negative is that midwayusa.com does not hold the order until they have all the parts before shipping. Thus I get 2, maybe 3 shipments, the sum total of each shipping charge, when added together, results in an amount greater than had they waited to completely fill the order.

This is the main reason I look elsewhere before looking on midwayusa.

I wouldn't mind their backorder problem too much if they wouldn't charge you so much for S&H. They are higher than most to begin with but when something is on backorder the charge you a second S&H charge when they ship the backordered item. Most other online Retailers won't charge you additional S&H when an item is shipped after being on backorder.

Last time I made an order from them they charged me over $9 for a few small items. 1 item ended up being on backorder and they were going to charge me over $8 to ship a small tool weighing only a few onces. Midway really should do something about their S&H charges and come into line with the other online Retailers. I can't tell you how many times I ordered from another site because of their over-blown shipping charges.

Exactly! I had to phone in and put my preference to USPS before it was even an online shipping option. Saves me a few dollars on the "just over $40" orders I sometimes need to place.

It is funny to watch the shipping climb in price when your only adding $2 pieces of little plastic like chamber plugs to an order...

Its not so Much Midway as it is the entire industry its taken me over 3 months :banghead:to accumulate everything I need to craft match accurate 204 Ruger.....

Midway, Midsouth, and Grafs never had everything I needed in stock at one time, so everyone got a bit of my business over a single cartridge:D

I'm with you ArchAngelCD. I would not order from Midway the other day because one small item was on back order and it would have been an additional 7,8, or 9 bucks for that item later. :banghead:

I have been having trouble finding everything i need in stock at the same time as well. but Midway has been getting my shipments to me so fast it is worth it. I can order on Monday and pay for the cheapest UPS shipping and packages are arriving Wednesday. I have been really happy with them lately.

I'm with Jelly on this one. During check out, if your order is small enough to forgo the safety of tracking information and insurance, you can choose the shipping method of your choice. USPS first class is nice for the small stuff and it's still pretty fast.

The one thing they don't seem to be able to restock, at least in the last month, is new .308 brass. Don't want to hijack the thread, but if anyone has a source, please PM me.

I was just out there to pick some stuff up (living five miles away should save me money right? wrong.. I just order more stuff)

They were pouring concrete. I would hazard a guess it is for an additional warehouse.

Looks like they are working on the out-of-stock issue.

YES, STUFF I WANT IS ALWAYS OUT OF STOCK. :banghead: Why can't they order larger quantities??

I dunno where you guys are getting the high shipping charges from, but I just ordered almost $70 worth of stuff and paid $3.33 for shipping and it go to me in 3 days.

Now, they were out of stock on one big thing I was wanting when they were running the St. Paddy's Day sale, which kind of ticked me off.

I discovered the same thing from Graf. Ordered something that was in stock a week ago. They ran out before they got my order shipped. Now I'm in a waiting game.

What the hell is going on with reloading stuff? I'm to the point where I'm considering buying everything I can get my hands on to stock up. :(

I sent a money order in for 4 items and today I got a box back from Midway with two of them. If I want the other two items I have to order again. :banghead:

Oh, but now I have some "Midway money" built up.

Same here too. Other than this problem they're a great company to deal with. They really need to change this policy that makes their problem my problem. Maybe their new warehouse will make this all a thing of the past but I doubt it.

After the 1st time midwayusa charged me 9 bucks to ship something that was backordered I've made it a point to verify every single thing I'm ordering is in stock or I'm not getting it. Sucks but thats the way it is.
