The kind you see for sale in the Ammo cans.
Most of the time with a sign saying Military Surplus.....(Not sure how?, last time I checked they still used the .223 in the services.)

Is it corrosive, and would you shoot it in your rifle?
I was told some of the surplus ammunition was hard on rifle bores.
As it easy to replace a barrel on an AR type rifle....Not so easy on a
hunting rig.

bottom line here is if you cannot determin who makes it then you just dont know. I would shoot it. I wouldnt worry about it being corrosive you just dont see that in 223/5.56 I have never heard of it being hard on any barrel.

Surplus at this time must some real crap, because anything else was bought up by the US Goverment.
With two wars going on, the US needs every day an extra 1 Million rounds!

Anyway, I have not seen any surplus for a good price in a long while!
At this time you look with shipping still above the $400/1000.
