Hello guys,

So i have been doing what seems like endless research and need some imput. I want to buy a scope in the $300 to $400 range, MAX $450 (I kno there are nice scopes out there for more) And I have sort of kind of narrowed it down to these.

Sightron SII 4-16x42MD

Millett Tactical 4-16x50

Falcon Menace 4-14x44

Nikon Monarch 4-14x42

Wonders Optics 4-14x50 (GEN5) EPB

Hawke Sidewinder 4.5-14x42

Use: on a savage 110 7mm Rem Mag, will be doing some hunting with it along with target shooting and tactical training classes (ranging and long range shooting skills)

Likes: I want foremost a reliable scope that will last. I also would like a recticle that i could range with ie. the mil dots or other. Having the adjustment to shoot out to 800yds without a 15 or 20 MOA base. Turrets with clear lables and firm clicks. And good sight picture and contrast.

My thoughts: I like the Falcon Menace due to FFP, but am worried about life and duribility. I like the WOTAC also due to reviews and price.

Any imput would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks guys,

I personally would get a Burris FFII in 4.5-14x42 and then pay the $80 to have Burris add the target turrets to it. I've not had that particular Monarch, but I've got a couple Monarchs and honestly, the Burris FFII has better glass, but I like the turrets better on the Monarch. The target turrets would fix that issue though, and you'd be well under your $450 budget.

Another option if you are doing a lot of long range shooting would be the SWFA SS 3-9x42. I know it's smaller than you want, and honestly, I like the power range of the 4.5-14's a lot better, but the SWFA SS is a much better scope than all of them if you are doing much adjusting of the turrets. Plus it's FFP, and is a mil/mil scope. You can find them for $400 or so used if you look. It might be worth giving up a little power for the rest of the features.

That said, I don't have any experience with any of the others on that list, other than the Monarch, and like I said mine aren't that exact model.

The Monarchs I have looked through have been far clearer than the Burris Fullfield II I looked through. Not even close. Interesting.
