Millions of hungry guns will be starving

Millions of guns will be empty or short on ammo I am sure. And then will come the price gougers.
You mean the people who are offering ammo for sale when few others have any to sell? How very terrible!

Maybe you should sell some of yours, so you can set the price.

:::around the country guns are going hungry, poor and neglected . no hope to breathe fire or make soup cans jump around. Things haven't always been this way but there's something you can do to help...

Look at this pitiful little spud, all alone, vigorously hunted into near extinction. This is the food for naa minis and others. With your daily donation of $1000 to uncle obturation'$ cash money ammo fund for the blind we can help struggling guns get the yummy lead they need to keep those cylinders turning and those bolts slappin' back and forth.

So how much of your donation goes directly to the cause? All of it, yes, every penny will help some disadvantaged gun get the proper nutrients to keep things free from rust due to neglect.

Meals like this one, randomly assorted bullets ready for consumption. It even looks like there's a coin in there, delicious . would anyone deny a hungry gun such a meager meal? Could you live with yourself?

So donate today.

I learned from the OPEC oil embargo that consumable product can go into short supply overnight.
Signs like "SORRY NO GAS TODAY" and "LIMIT $10.00"

This shortage is caused by fear of lawlessness and civil strife.

Then there are these kinds of threads which spread the fear and make other folks believe they must rush out and buy everything they see. thus promoting and prolonging the shortage.

BTW.....none of my guns are going hungry. Many will feast tonight.

Yep, that is the nice thing about video games, your guns never run out of ammo and can feast every night.

Ammo shortage, indeed ...

My niece & her husband stopped by a couple of weeks ago to pickup some items leftover from their Sep'19 wedding that I had stored (one of her BFFs-from-school is getting married soon).

Her husband asked where I got my .38spl ammunition. Funny, he didn't ask if I used .38spl, he just assumed. O'course as a wedding present I gave them a fully-accoutered AR-15 w/gray furniture & mags. My sister thought that it was Nuts but my niece thought it was GREAT! They know that Uncle GBExpat is their family go-to Gun Guy. :)

Anyway ... I told him that I roll my own. A bit deflated, he said that he suspected that to be the case and told me that his dad had been gifted with an old .38spl and would like to shoot it some but couldn't find any ammo, anywhere.

I then told him that I also have a stash of .38spl factory ammo and retrieved 2 boxes for him to give his dad. :)

Hate these threads. People reply to these types of threads with thier nose held up so high, they'd drown in a rain storm. Like "should have learned from the last shortage, I'm fully stocked up". Ok. Hindsight is 20/20. I'm stocked up as well but there are new gun owners more than ever. Some of these people really don't know why they cant find ammo. Sad.

I hate politics and THR does too, but the reality is, hope for 4 more years of Trump.

I don't disagree. I'm getting ready to bring some rifle and pistol ammo out to some shooting Brothers who I want to make sure don't run out. And I've helped out a few new shooters lately as well. If you've "bought cheap and stacked deep", you might help out a less fortunate friend or a new gun owner. A little "ammo love" goes a LONG way towards building good karma!

You're a good man, GB!

I walked in the place was almost bare of ammo and firearms

This means they are sold out. That is a good thing. The only bad thing about this is that the owners can’t find any more things to sell. He has made as much money as possible.

This time last year was the worst time for gun biz. They were practically giving away AR’s.

It is a cycle, at least within my lifetime. However I grew up when cable news was developing.

I learned my lesson in the 2008 timeframe.

I am selling off a lot of my guns that I don’t shoot right now. I will then continue to shoot the ones I kept because I have ammo from stocking up the last 2 years.

I use:

https://ammoseek.com/
https://www.gunbroker.com/

Picked up a case of 357 mag and a 1/2 case of 10mm in the past 2 months. Prices were normal.
Even during the worst run on guns in the past, I was able to find bulk ammo to include 9mm and 22LR. I just paid a little more for it.

https://www.wikiarms.com/group/9mm

Stroll on down to the $.40 per round..lots there, and yes supply and demand means it's more expensive but it's easy to find just about any common caliber..

https://www.wikiarms.com/group/223

This is from one search engine..I have 7 on my desktop...

Mine won't starve; but, it cost me about 25% more than if I had been more proactive.

We get it. Search and pay more. If you post a good source that will work until it empties out.

Politics , let’s skip that.

I messed up due to spending too little time on the hobby in general. Low on ammo for the ARs, and can’t find bullets to reload locally. I guess I will have to pay a bit more for them. BUT, that’s the point of it. Buy cheap and stock up on what you need whether that be nails, canned food, clothing, cars... I made a mistake and my inventory got lower than I would like, so now I pay for that mistake. No gripes from me aside from the generic gripe that some people choose to dabble in profiteering during any kind of crisis and I find that objectionable because it further eats up supply and serves to drive up the price, which is their goal because that increases their potential profit. Government over-reach and legislation making it tough to engage in lawful business with certain commodities doesn’t help either.

Reading different articles there is an unintended economic impact on gun ranges in multiple states. Although a lot of them have been deemed essential and are open, no one wants to shoot up what little 9mm and .223 they have, which makes up the majority of new firearms purchased. By some counts 40% of guns are now being sold to new owners who have no way to feed their new firearms let along train with them. This is hurting privately owned ranges and trainers.

I believe due to 5.56 being such a prolific military cartridge, production will catch up there much sooner than with 9mm. Countries such as Israel can really step up 5.56mm production but I doubt they have the same capacity with 9mm.

Agreed.
If someone has the means to stock up and don't, I have no sympathy.

However, not everyone has hundreds of dollars to spare to buy a surplus of ammunition. The fact is right now, a lot of people are struggling.
I've probably been guilty of it too, and shame on me. I'm fortunate. Not everyone is.

The pickings are getting slim even for .22lr match ammo.
I went looking last night for some SK Rifle Match and Lapua Center-X. Target Sports USA had exactly 8 selections of .22lr in stock, those two not among them.
Being a diligent searcher, I found what I wanted, but it's getting seriously weird out there.

The big difference between the last scare and this one is that a wider range of ammo is in short supply. Back at the last scare just about everything was gone except 40 S&W. You could find 40 S&W everywhere. Not so with this scare. Just so happens it's the one caliber I'm short on and can't find it anywhere right now. No biggie. My G18 in 40 S&W will just need to sit for a while!

Enough whining about the ammo shortage.Should have seen this one coming 20 years ago.

I am now stocking up on more Pellets for Airguns. I will at least be able to keep the Trigger time.

One constant I see a LOT of when this happens is conspiracy theory on who's fault it is and how it must be an attempt to inflate the price. Many just do not understand how the manufacture of this stuff works. The Co's making it have plenty of capacity to keep up with market until something sets off panic buying. They do not have a switch on the wall they flip and double the amount they are cranking out. They also can not just build more capacity for every panic since it takes a LONG time to amortize (pay for) that capitol outlay. They pay taxes on that new space and equipment. Then if they get to where they can make twice as much all of a sudden the market is flooded, people stop buying, the equipment they bought sits idle, workers get laid off. All this is expensive. These panic shortages also feed off themselves much faster and longer now with the net. Everyone for months will jump on line to tell everyone the sky is falling and more people panic buy.
This was what caused the great toilet paper shortage. People were literally buying the stuff faster than trucks could bring it to the stores. With ammo, powder, primers it's far worse as they take longer to produce and ship. So when the entire county runs out and tries to fill the garage with the stuff at the same time? Well this is what we see.

None of this matters any longer. If you have a link to affordable ammo then please post. Or if you have a solution to how to keep up training then let's see. If you have alternate weapons to think about then let's see them. It is what it is.
