Millions of hungry guns will be starving

I use:

https://ammoseek.com/
https://www.gunbroker.com/

Picked up a case of 357 mag and a 1/2 case of 10mm in the past 2 months. Prices were normal.
Even during the worst run on guns in the past, I was able to find bulk ammo to include 9mm and 22LR. I just paid a little more for it.

I have .22 coming every couple weeks since that I shoot weekly. Used a couple sites, I think ammoseek was one, to find a couple places I had never heard of. Did a test buy and when all went fine added them to the list. 9mm will be the same thing till this one is over. Some will take advantage and scalp as some are willing to pay higher. Other places will sell at normal price on first come first served. Ammo still rolls in regularly so unless the shooters live where they can no longer order it they can still find it. This is also why the people who make it can't just build more factory capacity. When this shortage ends, as it will, a LOT of people are going to be sitting on so much ammo they will not buy for a good long time. Just like the TP a lot of people must have one room in their house stacked with the stuff. So they of course will suddenly not be buying any more for a good while.
As always I have to hope shooters will finally pay a little more attention to what law makers are doing too. Many places do not like us being able to buy on line. If shooters stay sleeping and they again make it where we can't order on line the next panic will be a LOT more painful. Many shooters now do not remember what it was like when you had to go to a store to buy ammo. Anything that was hand gun you had to fill out a book with ID to buy. Many law makers are trying to bring this back and some have. Imagine the next panic when the only way to buy ammo is find it in a store?

Mine won't starve; but, it cost me about 25% more than if I had been more proactive.

My ammo supply is much like my food supply.
Most of it is "home grown"... ;)
Yep, I used to grow more but I've been slacking this year . rabbits have been eating a lot too, to keep it gun related I will say- I wish I could shoot those rabbits and then reload the cases and shoot some more rabbits. I am trying to grow a truly massive pumpkin this year, doubt it'll be good to eat but it should be fun to haul it out to my buddy's place and blast it to pieces .

None of this matters any longer. If you have a link to affordable ammo then please post. Or if you have a solution to how to keep up training then let's see. If you have alternate weapons to think about then let's see them. It is what it is.

Some already have assuming you live where you can order it? If so ammoseek is one I used before, ammograb is another. Your favorite search engine will find a few for you. They let you search online retailers for the kind of ammo you want and do a pretty good job of updating much faster that waiting for people to post at groups like this. Save a couple of these sites, check them often. If it's a site you have never heard of I would use cautions. Read carefully before you enter your sale. Some try to hide fee's like shipping. Of course make sure you order with a credit card not a debit card. When this last one got going good and my favorite place (SGammo) ran out I found a few others. First asked on another forum if anyone had used them. When I found several said all went fine I did a small order first to see. Then started ordering my normal which is a case of stuff at a time.
Now if you live where you can't order ammo any more? Well then you pretty much have to hope some will post which retailer has some and hope you get there quick enough or keep calling around.

We can adapt. Europe has had Iron Plate shooting now for years with air guns. We have it now in some areas of the US. Air Rifle shooting is a HUGE sport. Hunting, Bench Rest, Field Target etc.

I have LONG encouraged people to use air guns for fun and cheap practice. ANY trigger time is very helpful to shooters. Air guns can be used at home which is nice. Use caution here as a lot of places have passed laws to make them a firearm so before you head to the back yard make sure your jurisdiction did not but, even if they did you can set up inside. Fun, cheap, good practice, LOT's of guns to choose from now. I well remember my first air gun I was allowed to buy. Had a .22 I was only allowed to use with Father there. I lived outside with that air rifle. They had a hard time getting me to come in to eat. Next outing with Dad I out shot him badly. I had gotten very good with all that practice. He now let me take the .22 any time I wanted. Still got a lot of time on the air gun as affording the .22 ammo was much harder :D

I was considering picking up a 243 rifle, but decided not to bother. Ammo and components are simply too hard to get. Will revisit the idea if things loosen up.

Last chance for people to stop posting not relevant comments or drive bys. Post constructive ways to find ammo, please.

Take the hint. I'm deleting too much nonsense.

As clearly evidenced by the current shortage, his administration is just as responsible for this shortage as the previous shortages were deemed caused by the previous administration.
His administration is responsible for the ammo shortage? No sir, the virus did it. Panic buyers.

Getting too political. Personally I've given up on store ammo. Reloading supplies are all I'm after nowadays.

I do most of my ammo buying in store now. Most of my local places have most everything in stock but they have limits and the prices have gone up. I stop into Rural King on my days off once a week and the past 2 visits they had a small stash of Geco 9mm FMJ and got some WBB .40sw. They have had bulk cases every time I've gone of Lake City 5.56. $800
though.

I can't swing $300 a case every paycheck to stock up, i know its cheaper in the long run but I'll just stop by at my local gun stores grab a couple of boxes of whatever when I stop in. One store always has Federal aluminium .40 in 100 rds for $29, so I'll grab a box or two.

Now I have to buy .223 and 7.62x39. I can find that at every place I goto, one larger gun store has some Aussie brand, 200rs case for $120, I'll get a case next paycheck

I was primarily shooting 9mm. While I reload and am pretty well stocked, I have a couple of 22 handguns and picked up 2 more for variety's sake this week. I'll shoot 100-200 rounds of 9mm during my range trips to conserve that ammo and the rest 22's, which I stocked up on since prices dropped. For those who haven't stocked up, 22LR on ammoseek can still be found at $.07 - $.08 per round, which is considerably lower than 9mm. A quality 22 handgun is relatively inexpensive and will pay for itself with what you save on ammo. The link to the ammoseek search for .22 is below.

I've enjoyed not dealing with the lack of 9mm ammo this time around. Like an idiot, I even gave away a few boxes I had laying around. Now like a bigger idiot, I made a deal on a 9mm... The place had 1 box of Federal .40sw...only other ammo they had (pawn shop btw) was some really old Winchester 44-40 and .222...oh, and a box of .44amp.

And I am honestly finding it easier to buy locally vs online. Unless its an odd ball caliber. I do wish I had grabbed a few more boxes of French 7.5. I bet ammo makers are spending there time making the main calibers and all the non conventional calibers are taking a back seat. Even .30-30 is becoming harder to find

You mean the people who are offering ammo for sale when few others have any to sell? How very terrible!

Maybe you should sell some of yours, so you can set the price.
I am a buyer. Not a seller. If you were a prior gun owner and not a newbie. It's there loss for not being stocked up if they cant find ammo or supplies to reload.

Ok. Hindsight is 20/20. I'm stocked up as well but there are new gun owners more than ever. Some of these people really don't know why they cant find ammo. Sad.

I hate politics and THR does too, but the reality is, hope for 4 more years of Trump.

Well, then it is time they learn and keep that in mind whenever they cast a vote.

Hate these threads. People reply to these types of threads with thier nose held up so high, they'd drown in a rain storm. Like "should have learned from the last shortage, I'm fully stocked up". Ok. Hindsight is 20/20. I'm stocked up as well but there are new gun owners more than ever. Some of these people really don't know why they cant find ammo. Sad.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but more than likely, if DJT gets re-elected, ammo will be a lot more available, for a few months. Or years.
Something for new gun owners, searching for ammo, to consider, before they vote...
