Where can I find MilSurp Ammo for my 30-06? I can't justify the 1.00 per shell price tag for ammo, when all they will see is paper! If I can kind a good surplus of ammo at a cheaer rate that would definately benefit me more so then the 20 shells in a box for around 21.00 dollars at Wallyworld.

Hey Joey;
I just posted to your thread about cleaning. Here is some more info regarding mil-surp ammo. Some of the Korean '06 has "corrosive" priming. Now this is NOT a reason to panic, all it means is that after firing, there is a salt residue left in the bore. Salt is hydroscopic and will attract moisture that will cause rust. This residue is NOT like some vile acid that instantly attacks your bore. BUT, there ARE a couple of extra steps involved in cleaning after using corrosive ammo. You should first push a dry patch or two through the bore from breech to muzzle to remove any soft fouling. push the patch through and remove it from the cleaning rod without drawing it back through the bore. Then, flush the bore with a pint or two of boiling water, then clean normally. With semi-autos, you will need to clean out the gas system as well.

Scroll down past the pull through wrapping instructions and you will find some good info on cleaning bolt action rifles after firing corrosive ammo. I have handled hundreds of WWI and WWII rifles that have had nothing but corrosive ammo fired through them and still have brite, shiney bores.

There's a lot of Korean surplus ammo out there and for the most part its all good stuff. The stuff with the 'KA' headstamp will require you to clean your rifle with hot water or at least windex before you leave the range, because its corrosive.
