Did anybody actually put a bottle of Militech into their car crankcase? I did but i don't feel the difference.. oh well :banghead:

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say, there is no way that Militec-1 caused those malfunctions. I use both Militec-1 and FP-10. While FP-10 works great and it's convenient that it can be used as a cleaner too, I've found that Militec-1 seems to be slicker. Racking the slide on a gun lubed with Militec-1 is smoother than anything else I've tried.
I really want to like FP-10 better since it's a CLP and it would simplify my life if I could have just one product to maintain my guns, but I keep noticing that my Militec-1 lubed guns run smoother.

Never heard of an experience like that but anythings possible. I use Mil-Tec grease on the rails of my semi's and Breakfree on everything else. If I didn't get good results from any product, I wouldn't use it. Find something that works and stick with it. Shoot well and often.

Militec is an adequate lube, and from my own limited experience, a sub-standard protectant.
I like Militec-1 because their service is great and they are professional people. I never like products with ads showing sci-fi result to trash other people. Everyone is trying to make a living. I think people can prove that their product is good without labeling other business as inferior.
Have you even seen Militec-1's advertising campaign? You want to talk about labeling other business as inferior, they've gone so far as to imply that Royco and other manufacturers of CLP are responsible for the deaths of troops in Iraq. It looks like they've toned down their website a bit, but earlier articles posted on the front page bordered on outright accusations of murder.

They've got a sufficient, albeit unexceptional product, but because of how they chose to pimp their product, I'll not buy from them again.

Plus, I got a good deal on a gallon of milsurp CLP, so I won't be needing to buy another lube for a while.

I like it alot. I love the grease on the slide rails as well. No problems for me.

I have been using Militec on my carry only. So far it works well.
I will not use it on my others. After a conversation with a rep from Militec I decided I would only use it on a gun that I would not be likely to refinish. I was told by the rep that since it "soaks" in to the steel it is very difficult to refinish.
That's my two cents. I'll not be using it on anything that I'll be refinishing in the future.

I don't think it was the miltech that caused the malfunctions. Also as for the right amount to use, i barely use any to lube my guns.

The soaking in thing leads to a question..what if you don't want to use it anymore??How do you get it off??and if I switch back to Breakfree what then??I got the sample of miltec and want to try it but I wonder what happens when you're tired of it.....

Once it's in the steel, it stays there. I was told that to remove it for refinising you might have to remove metal in the refinishing process.
If you quit using it and switch back to CLP it's not a problem, unless you want to refinish your surface.

I think the CLP style lubes are more than good enough.

The system I prefer, however...

1) clean with MPro7. GREAT cleaner. Not very messy and essentially odorless. Non toxic? (With the CLP I used it was tough to tell how well it was cleaning)

2) lube with Militec. GREAT lube for firearms and blades. No problems with my weapons using this. (W/CLP I didn't really like the teflon separation, made me wonder)

3) protect with Tuf-Glide. Dries quickly (not a fuzz magnet) and protects very well.

If all I had was CLP I wouldn't be cryin by a long shot. I just like the specialized products a little more. I dig chemicals, so I invested about $15 per product and have had them for over a year and am still going strong...
