Factory Mags for Mini 14
CTD and CDNN have 20rd Ruger factory mags for mini14 (and I believe mini30) @ $49.95.
Just read an article in a magazine on a test of the new Mini 14's where ProMag magazines were used- worked perfectly according to article. They sell for less than 1/2 the Ruger mags.

Ever since the AWB sunset in 2004, it has been possible to buy Ruger factory 20s. Just not directly from Ruger. E.g., check out 44mag.com.

Maybe to you comparing the number 5 to the number 20. However in reality the amount of materials necessary to make a 5 round magazine vs a 20 round magazine are not 4x as much. So comparing the number 5 to the number 20 is not accurate.
In reality they shouldn't cost more than about 1/3 more than a 5 round magazine.
Little more sheet metal, a little more spring.
So a fair price on them would be around $30. They however do not go for $30 because consumers such as yourself compare capacity difference rather than material and manufacturing difference, so they know they can get away with more.
The parts that require the machining and are the biggest part of the expense though are essentialy the same.

If profit margins were regulated or fixed to the amount of required materials then capitalism wouldn't work too well.

Not quite comparing capacity to price, I'm comparing availability. If every Mini-14 shipped with a 20 rounder, I'd expect them to be cheaper. Since they're not widely sold to civilians, I do expect them to sell for a premium. If and when Ruger sells the magazines alone to civilians, I also expect the price to drop to perhaps $30.

I bought a Mini 14 NRA this weekend and it came with 2 factory 20 rounders. I checked GB when I got home and found a auction for 5 brand new factory mags for $200, so I bought them. So at $40 each I did okay, I guess. Plus now, I'm done buying mags for it!

I've only owned my NRA Mini for a month or so, and have only taken one trip to the range with the 3 ProMag 20s I bought for $17 each on Midway.com, but so far the ProMags have worked perfectly.
I wanna save wear and tear on my two factory mags, so I think I'll order a couple more of the ProMags...

I bought a couple Ruger 20 rounders for $40 each at the last gun show I went to......quite a few dealers had them and they are all marked "law enforcement use only" from the ban period....
I have 2 Minis. One has been worked over by Great Western Gunsmithing and shoots just over MOA. The other one is there now. If I ever decide to handload the 223 I expect the rifles to be MOA, each of them.
I have tried many 20-30 round mags, the only ones that work every time are the Rugers. BTW, Ruger made a factory 30 rounder some time back for their full auto goverment guns. I lucked out and got 5 of them, along with a bunch of 20 rounders in a trade a few years ago. They all still work fine.
Both guns have 16" barrels with a compensator and full stock bedding, one is a synthetic factory stock, the other a wood factory bedded job.

New factory Ruger 20's are $30 locally from a dealer who buys direct from Ruger.
Some distributers and Gunshow dealers are price gouging asking $ 40 + for them because individuals can't order direct from Ruger.
Personally I have had good luck with the Ramline 30's in the past and the PMI mags from Brownells.
