Okay, we're going to get a mini-14. This is because it is the closest thing to an evil high capacity machine semi-automatic assault rifle (or whatever Diane Feinstein's calling them these days) that can be purchased in the PRK. Anyway, I want to buy some hi-cap mags for it, but i've heard some pretty bad things about the aftermarket ones. Can anyone reccommend a good-quality hi-cap mag for a somewhat reasonable price?

There are some decent aftermarket mags, the manufacture name eludes me at the moment. I think Bushmaster sells some on their website? Try doing a search on Mini-14 mags. Whatever you do, stay away from USA magazines for your Mini. Total garbage. No consistency. Sometimes they would work, most of the time: bang, bang, jam, bang, jam, bang, bang, bang jam. You get the picture. The ruger factory high caps can be had at a very high price.

Meathammer- the link says they can't be shipped to Kali- can we order springs, followers, and the sheetmetal from Brownells as parts and assemble them??? And will they work??

Sorry, my bad! :(

I didn't notice that. Boy, I feel dumb. I was in a hurry just trying to find a link to some mags. Can you even legally use high caps for that rifle in California?

Uh..that stoopid law says that you can't import, purchase, or receive any magazines over 10 rounds in Kali. Basically if you had them in your possession in Kali before the ban you can use them all you want in any post or pre-ban weapon however, you can't get anymore magazines greater than 10rnds.

As far as magazines over 10rnd, the PMI 30rnd mags have worked great. For 10rnders, the ProMag magazines have been totally reliable. I've had problems with John Masen mags.

It's my understanding of the law that purchasing of the parts and assembling hi-cap magazines is deemed "manufacture", which is a Federal no-no.

I am not a lawyer, nor do I portray one on television. I don't want anyone to get in trouble with the Kali Gestapo.

Please ask around before you do this. Start with your local gun dealer. :uhoh:
