OK guys will the HKS 36-A five shot speed loader work on the 905 the same as it works for the 85 model?

a what holster are you all using what gun do you use as ref "small j-fame"?

thanks for the help :)

Know whats funny guys? I just bought this gun today. I've been fondling my gun for a few hours now. I've been mainly trying to figure out the whole moon clip thing because this idea is still foreign to me.

My problem i seem to be running into is opposite of everyone else it seems? I can't seem to get the dang brass out of the clips without bending the moonclip!

Maybe these things were not meant to be loaded and unloaded repeartedly? It kinda seems that way? But i sure do like the feel of this gun, the weight and the looks of it. Its just plain sexy. SEXY i say!

I chose the 9mm over the .38sp mainly because i like many others, don't feel like stocking up on yet another caliber.

I really hope this gun makes it more into main stream soon. It looks real promising. The .45 cal rimless revolver guns seem like they have a real bright future too. I'm looking forward to seeing where the whole rimless cartridge revovlers are going.

I've stopped using the moonclips at the range. It actually takes longer to load the moonclip and unload it than it takes to just flick each round out using your finger nail.

And no, speed loaders do not work on this as there is no real rim for the prongs on the speed loader to grab.

Taurus 905 in MD

Hey, Chaim,

Talk to Sandy Abrams of Valley Guns in Baltimore. He is a leader in the MD shooting community and knows all the do's and don't's. I asked him how his Taurus factory sale went in December and he said very well, sold 75 guns. I told him I wanted to order a 905 but weather kept me away. He told me to call or come on over and he'll start the paperwork. I'm follow his advice when I'm ready to order.

He sets up at all the Md gun shows, I imagine he'll be at Westminster this weekend, I'll drop in Saturday. I expect him to be at Timonium's February Preston Jone's three day show, 2/12,13,14, too.

The Taurus 905 CHSS (and its brothers) looks like a winner. I need one to go with my S&W 940 and my Charter Arms Pit Bull 9mm Federal. Yeah, I know I have to reload for that one.

Moon clip load and unload tips

Hi Pylon and MJRW,

Loading: Lay some 9mm on the table. Lightly catch the edge of a moon clip on he top of the rim of one of the rounds. With your other hand press another round down from above and both the top and bottom rounds will seat easily. Repeat until loaded. Continue loading all available moon clips.

Unloading: Several people sell special removal tools for moon clips. I can't find my previous posts (when I find them I'll send them on) try Brownells, Numrich/Gun Parts Corp, Ranch Products on your own. Some are as simple as a mini-prybar that works like a charm, others have more complex constructions.

Final and best tip. Buy another 5 or 10 moonclips from Taurus or ask Ranch Products if they are selling them yet. Moon clips are a great way to go.

BTE MJRW: Great suggestion on tweaking the physical dimensions of the moon clip if it is too loose or too tight. The clips are a pure mechanical fit and can be varied if some rounds fit differently than others. I often have to do hand fitting on replacement grips, new and old mag lips, sights, so why should moon clip fit be a surprise?

What kind of velocities do you get with 9mm out of a barrel that short?

Guys, just wanted to let folks know that I tried Ruger SP101 moonclips with the Taurus. You know, the clips that are formed by an outside rim that holds the cartridges on the inside of the rim. Well, as I suspected, they won't work with the Taurus. The Ruger cylinder is just enough larger and the chambers spaced just enough differently that the 9mm rounds will not fully seat in the Taurus' chambers when loaded in the Ruger clips. Too bad because the Ruger clips are less expensive (10 for 8.30) and quite durable. I'm gonna have to pony up for the extra Taurus clips now that they are showing them for sale on the website. Nice little revolver, though. I like mine quite a bit. BTW, Geech, two inch 9mm revolvers usually get velocities approximate to 3 1/2 inch autos give or take a little. Total bore length is approximate.
