I just picked up this P&R 19-4.

I happen to think this is a very sexy revolver. My only other short barreled revolver is a 3.5" pre model 27. I'm fairly accurate with it at 10 yards.

Are these 2.5" 19's accurate at 10-15 yards.

Thanks,

K22

With practice I'm sure your Model 19 snub can be just as accurate. But the fact is larger guns are generally more accurate. But most quality guns like your Model 19 is capable of more accuracy than you think it can produce.

Anyways, thats a nice sample you got there. Don't let go of it.

In handguns, barrel length has little or no effect on accuracy. This has been demonstrated by firing guns in a Ransom Rest. The shorter sight radius makes accurate shooting short barreled guns by hand much more of a challenge.

Your S&W 19/2 1/2" will easily shoot into the "K" zone of a police silhouette target at 100 yards, just as my older Colt Detective Special/2" will. The question is not "what the gun can do," but rather "what can you do."

Hi K22,
Beautiful gun! I have the 2 1/2" 66 and can shoot it quite well at 10 to 15 yards. As has been mentioned barrel length isn't the deciding factor on how accurate a gun can be. Best, Mike

Snubby's can be very accurate but you might have to search for the loads it likes best.My 3" 65-3 will shoot 1.5" D/A groups at 30' with pmc 150gr starfires but golden sabre's will only get 2-3" groups at the same distance.

Very nice ;)

I would think that w/ proper practice, your snubby would be just as accurate as longer barrelled 19's, congrats!

NICE. I have been looking for one local and thanks to k22 I have a line on one. I will let you all know how the search turns out.

Carry one regularly as well.

Very nice gun IMHO. Small enough to be a decent concealed carry weapon, large enough and good enough sights to still make a fun range gun (at 15 yards and well, well beyond)

Got what I considered to be a good deal on my 98% gun a year ago at $300. I'd think anywhere from $280-375 for a very good to absolutely perfect one would be reasonable most places.

K22 hooked me up!!! M-19-4 P/R 2.5 inch. just like the "one" in the pic. above. I couldn't be happier. It is rock solid!!! Now where do I get the time to take it out and shoot it????? Be good.

Truth be told, I hooked Litlman with "the" gun pictured above. It's strange but right after I picked up the 19-4 pictured above I found a very nice 19-3 with both the original grips and a very nice set of Indian sambar stag grips. Given a choice I'll usually always opt for the older gun.

It's strange, I'd been looking for a nice 2.5" P&R 19 locally for almost a year. In one week I found these 2 guns, both with the original box and docs. Go figure.

Litlman, we have to get out. You have 4 "new" S&W's that you haven't shot yet! Make the time!
