I've posted this photo numerous times, but my 308 EW is my go-to rifle for any big game hunting. This was on an elk hunt in 2018. I actually like the 300WSM a LOT too. I had one of them in the older SS Classic Winchester 70. I really liked the rifle and cartridge, but ultimately decided 308 was enough cartridge for anything I'd hunt and sold it.
Granted mine is a 2008 production rifle so I can't comment 1st hand on the Portugal manufactured rifles. But the only negatives I've read about are mostly cosmetic. By all accounts I've read they shoot just fine
I didn't care much for the B&C stock that comes on them. I found this McMillan Edge stock for sale in the classified on another hunting forum for $475. I was able to sell the old B&C stock for $225, so I've only got $250 in the stock. The rifle is now 1/2 lb lighter and this stock is a lot trimmer. Well worth the money to me. It weighs 7 1/4 lbs as shown and shoots great with pretty much any ammo I feed it.
