I’m looking for a SAA and I have narrowed it down to a Cimarron model P or a USFA Rodeo. The model P is at a local gun store for $489. Is that a good price? On-line they list for about $550. From what I have read the Rodeo is a great gun but I’m not sure about the finish on it. The model P is case colored which is what I like but how does it rate to the rodeo in quality? I don’t plan on shooting any cowboy action any time in the future; I just want something I can shoot around the farm or range.

Cimarron's I believe are made by Uberti, so quality will be just fine.

USFA, makes probably the most faithful to the original Colt clones out but they do tend to be much more expensive.

They will be comparable in price, the Rodeo will be a little more but not much. Cimarron's are good guns (made by Uberti) but the USFA will be a FAR better sixgun in overall quality, inside and out. You just have to decide if you can live with the matte blue finish.

I have a Model P .45 Colt/.45 ACP convertible. I think it is of very good quality, shoots well, nicely finished. The Cimmaron versions don't have all the Italian proof marks that other Ubertis have.

I have not owned or fired a Rodeo, but have handled them. They seem to be of exceptional quality, if you don't mind a parkerized type finish. Their other models with traditional finishes would be the ultimate, but priced a lot higher.

Tough choice. You can't go wrong with either.

Wow! I never considered the Model P vs the Rodeo. I've thought of the Model P vs the Evil Roy...I'd like to know what the final choice ends up being.

On looks, the Cimarron wins, but IMHO the Rodeo is the better made gun.

At least some Cimarron guns are assembled in the U.S., which is why they don't have Italian proof marks; there is no difference in quality or safety.

So I decided to go with the Cimarron. It was cheaper and it had the better looking finish. I will probably never shoot it enough to need the rodeo.
