Hey everyone
I am trying to decide weather or not to leave the stone age and get some molle gear for my M14. I was wondering if the double M4 magazine pouches will can hold 1-20 round M14 magazine? Other than that I was thinking of getting a couple of the Molle II bandoleers for M16 magazines because I know they will hold 1-20 round M14 magazine each for a total of 3 per bandoleer. I do not want an exspensive setup just something simple that can hold 6-20 round magazines, a butt pack, a 1911A1 and holster and double mag pouch.

Some of the double mag pouches out there will fit M14 mags, but there are also several companies who make a dedicated single mag shingle for the M14... might be something to look into

Also unless you stack the mag shingles one atop another your going to be looking at a massive setup with all your wanting to carry

Here is a pic of my rig for comparison...

Cool pic wayneard
looks like your rig is a chest pouch style more than a vest. I was thinking of the SDS FLC vest that the military used before everyone just used the interceptor vest. I know that on the old style LBV that had 2 double m16 pouch 1 M-14 mag would fit in each. The M4 double pouches look to the be the same thing only with molle attachements on the back.
I don't want to have any double M14 mag pouches though just single because, currently I use two of the old LC2 30 round M16 pouches with the dividers cut out, and they hold 2-20 round M14 mags each. I Just want 6 single pouches somewhere on the chest. A butt pouch or sustenance pouch on the back and I might end up just carrying the 1911 on my belt. Currently I carry it in a UM85 holster and I use an old canvas vietnam era two pocket pouch that holds two 7 round GI mags. I also carry a modern version of the Ka-bar knife on the suspender strap.

So basickly I want to carry
6-20 round M14 mags (in single pouches)
1-butt pouch
1 1911A1 pistol
2-1911 mags (in a double pouch)
1 Ka-bar Knife

There must be a decent molle vest than can accomodate this ammount of gear.

Yes alot of vest out there will be capable of carrying what your wanting to... But what comes into play is how accessible everything will be and comfortable the rig will be... Also you have to take into account how and when it will be used, we work out of vehicles alot so for me it was important to keep my rig as streamlined as possible... After practicing roll over drills and other training that required climbing from one side to another inside a vehicle we started to reevaluate what we carried and the exact placement

mobility is definitely a big concern, if you can't move you can't fight but this would be a maximum combat load for me and I won't be fortunate enough to have body armor to contend with. The possibilty of being in a vehicle exsist but won't be a primary concern for me. Getting into variou shooting position is a concern for me though for certain.

Wayne what is your rig cabable of carrying ?

Thanks for the information I really appreciate it

Right now i have it set up to carry 6 M4 mags, 2 pistol mags, my surefire and two pairs of cuffs

I carry my IFAK on the back side of my IBA and my pistol in a thigh rig

One thing to look at is if you plan on shoot from the prone for any length of time is a rig that opens in the front such as a two piece MAV from tactical tailor or the FLC like you had already mentioned

Its actually more around my side, just behind my left arm, I can still get to it if i need to, i keep my CAT on my harness as you can see in the pic so if it get real serious real quick i can get to it... Honestly though if the situation arises that i need something out of there then chances are im gonna need someones help anyway

True, and as i stated i can still get to my IFAK... Just in my particular situation i found that to be the best place for it to be located... The final layout will be dependent on several factors, including your flexibility, build and the environment you will be using it in, as well as other things
