Money to burn... But on what? Any new purchases?

In a way, guns are like golf clubs - can’t have just one and can’t play with just one. On the other hand, you need golf balls to play golf. I’m investing more this year into ammo (golf balls) and my shooting (golf swing). There may be a new wedge that I need though…. (grin).
:rofl::rofl::rofl:
Ha! "Beware of the man with only one golf club because he probably knows how to use it!" ;)

Don't be so practical.

Exactly. Who needs that?? This place is the epicenter for all things im-practical and enabling our emotional instabilities on a mostly daily basis.

I like to drink my coffee and read some of the threads. It’s relaxing, if a bit comical at times. Like the old comic pages back when we had newspapers.

I just did a big appraisal and bought three orphans out of it afterwards. An older 1100 field with vent rib mod barrel (it now has a skeet barrel), a Taurus stainless 44 special and an NEF 45-70. None were on my wish list but I had a place for each.
1100 for skeet league, 44 for the truck/tractor loaded with two shot, three ball, and the NEF for next year's straight wall deer season at Walnut Hill, my little farm/deer factory.

re vamped my list and made a mental list of 3 guns Ill be keeping an eye out for this year.
GP100 7 shot 357
SP101 4 inch 357 for hiking
SP101 4 inch 22LR
Not eggs and or gas... but I think that's a pretty practical list. :)

Right now I've got a 700 action and Bartlein 2B barrel at my smiths to be put together and a Manners MCH3 stock on order to drop it in. The Leupold VX6HD 3-18x50 scope and mounts are sitting downstairs now.

Putting that together is going to consume this years toy budget.

I am looking at trading/selling a couple rifles in order to put together a .22LR precision practice set up though. All the other bases are covered.
vx-6 congrats. vx-6 2-12 has been something on the want list for sometime. 3-18 about covers all bases for a solid rifle!

I've got a VX6HD 2-12 on my .270Win, it's a great scope! used it on a couple deer and an antelope so far. It too covers a lot of bases.

Been on a buying binge lately.

A Bula Armaments M-14, standard rifle.
A nice old Smith M&P 6" .38 SPL. Made in 53
A 99+% Nambu type 14 that has apparently never been fired. Magazine and the interior of the pistol is full of cosmoline. Made in 1935. Makes your average Luger look ugly. That one cost a pretty penny!!!

I still want a Marllin 39 to replace the one I gave to No 2 son and a K22 to replace the Model 18 I foolishly let escape.

What cartridge? Inquiring minds would like to know.

As I posted in the Gun Goals for 2023 thread, I'm feeling the itch to build a hunting rifle in 7mm PRC. Got a good deal on 1989 Remington 700 ADL in 7mm Rem Mag that will donate the action. Have a Holland laminate stock on the way, a Timney Trigger in my stash, etc. Will probably order another McGowen Remage barrel, Remington Magnum contour. It will be months before I'm ready to put it together.

It's a 300 Win Mag turning into a.. 300 Win Mag!:D

Cause I've got a boatload of brass, dies etc. I also tend not to chase the latest & greatest. I did seriously look at the 300PRC for about 10-15 seconds, then stuck with the 300WM.

Nothing exciting from it's current configuration, just shedding some weight and hopefully picking up some accuracy. The 2B (5R) is about a Rem Magnum profile, but I had the shank cut down to 1/2" and it's .630 at the muzzle. The Manners EH3 should weigh about 29 ounces with the 1" pad and short Arca plate mounted. So I should be about 7lbs for the rifle before adding optic, I'm looking for slightly over 8lbs "all up" for about a 12 ounce savings over it's current configuration.

Also swapped out the original "Walker" trigger for a TriggerTech 700 "Special" set at 2lbs. I never had an issue with the original trigger, but with the re-barreling, I also had a bolt stop added to the receiver, so went with a clean trigger without bolt stop.

Good call. 300 WM will be here long after the PRC gets eclipsed by the next new cartridge.
