Many of you have read the original version of the little gun-culture book that could, and many more have ordered the upcoming Baen version. (shipping in 2 weeks) So now is your chance to become a part of the official Monster Hunter International universe.

In the MHI universe, teams of Hunters are divided up into different regions of the country. They kill monsters for a living, and get paid good doing it.

I'm having a contest. Design a patch for your own MHI team. Details are at the link above. The winners patch will be mentioned in MHI:2 and become canon.

All those monsters aren't going to kill themselves. Flex your artistic muscle and represent your region in the battle against the forces of evil! :D

BMF, Monster Hunter International was a novel that was born back on The Firing Line. It was written by a THR mod, the alpha readers and proofers were all THR members. When no regular publisher would touch it because it was too libertarian/gun-nutty/long, it was self published and sold on THR. (after said Mod/author i.e. me, wrote a big online fiction serial here to prove that I was literate enough to spend money on). The self-published book was a huge success, sold like hotcakes, got on a national bestseller list, and was then picked up by Baen books, who will be re-releasing it in less than two weeks.

Read the link to explain the patches. Lots of THR members are already in on it. I got permission from the mods before I stuck this up.
 
Okay, are foreign members allowed to join?

In fact, i have an idea for a short fan-fic, which would bring the reader to 1969, somewhere on Sino-Soviet border, then to some place in the middle of the Soviet Union, same year ;)
Now all i need is some free time to write it, actually ;)

PS Larry, are there any plans on the e-book version of the MHI:2?
 
Max, if that place has monsters, then there will be hunters! :D Go for it.

The e-book version of #1 is now completely available from Baen. #2 is sitting on the publisher's desk, and I've got no schedule for that one yet.
 
Larry, I LOVED the book. I've read it three times and enjoyed it still. I won't go all fanboy on you, but if MHI:2 and 3 don't get published I'm totally going to trade you a pistol I don't want for your notebooks. Do you like .22lr revolvers?
 
kinda looks like the monster hunter got a dirty sanchez.....

the book seems pretty interesting. think i might pick it up.
 
I'm not much of an artist either, so that's why I became a writer. :)

Shootist, go to the link and check out some of the other ones, folks are doing all sorts of different things. So far there are about twenty-five or so. You can do whatever you want, that's kind of the fun of it.

Five of Clubs, #2 is done and sitting on the publisher's desk, awaiting her feedback. No contract for it yet though. I think she's waiting to see how well #1 sells, but I think I'm going to be okay. I've been in the top 100 of Epic Fantasy for two days now on Amazon.
 
I'm not sure on the release date but you can get it on-line for cheap at
Baen on the down load now.
I'm at chapter 13 now and I love the Abomination........

Well I guess if I get stopped by the cops cruising the forest roads around Huntsville wearing a MHI patch I won't be mistaken as making a delivery to the local cooks.

Might still prompt a frank and animated discussion with the local constabulary, tho.
