ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- In Old Town Alexandria Monday morning, U.S. Rep. Jim Moran addressed gun control issues in his state.

Standing with members of Virginians Against Handgun Violence, he spoke about putting a stop to illegal gun trafficking. Making reference to the recent shooting of a Fairfax County police officer, Moran also is pushing legislation that would ban citizens from owning 50-caliber rifles.

News4 could not reach the National Rifle Association for its response to Moran's proposed legislation.

Jim's agenda was quoted on NPR this morning
Nothing is up there yet

The name says it all. Except it's misspelled. 2 O's vice O & A. Come get mine, less than Honorable Moron, but you might not like the way I unload them. :fire: :fire: :fire:

I wish I knew how he got away with some of the stuff he does.

In 2000...

"Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.) had a run-in with a child that year too. He allegedly grabbed a boy while waiting for his own children at an Alexandria recreation center.

He said the 8-year-old boy had threatened to steal his car. Moran held the boy and called the police."

Yes this clown sure gets away with being a moron most times (regret descriptive words but this Congressperson gets me angry since he is in our state).... A few weeks ago he proposed charging visitors to Smithsonian Museum a fee ($1.00 each) until someone showed him the Charter of Smithsonian making such fees illegal! He has antagonized our local Republican National Committee numerous times and he has had run ins on 2nd Amendment rights which he challenges. I am so glad that Davis is my Rep (due to my location) and I pity the residents of Alexandria that suffer Moran's foolishness over and over!

The man's an idiot, but a reflection of his bliss-ninney constiuency ( a mix of yupper-crust white libs and poor 'entitlement' blacks). He has a history of public anger-control problems and shady financial doings, but like Marion Barry, the drones keep re-electing him:barf:

It gets worse

Fairfax Board Calls for Assault Weapons Ban to be Reinstated
May 16th - 6:41am

FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) - The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors is pushing Congress to reinstate the ban on assault weapons that expired back in 2004.

The board made its request Monday in the wake of the death of Detective Vicky Armel, who police say was shot to death by Michael Kennedy, who was carrying weapons like an AK-47 style assault rifle, a hunting rifle and five handguns.

Another officer shot during the attack in the parking lot of the Sully District station last week in Chantilly remains in critical condition.

Board Calls for Assault Weapons Ban to be Reinstated
The board was originally asked to support a bill being sponsored by Rep. Jim Moran, D-Va. That bill would prohibit the sale of 50-caliber sniper rifles, however, some board members were hesitant to support the Moran bill because they weren't sure what weapons would be banned.

I am really begining to hate the term "assault rifle". Now if a rifle even has the same general appearence of some military used rifle it's an assault rifle. Gotta scare the lemmings enough to get them to run off the cliff I guess.

That's pretty much what it comes down to.
Like I mentioned before, just about everyon here in CA who supports the AW Ban thinks it keeps people from owning machineguns.

The gun-grabbers never go away. Even when they're whipped as roundly as they have been of late in the Old Dominion, they find any opportunity to weasel back in and prpose "new" legislation. Moran's seat is safe amidst the flock of sheep of Alexandris and surrounds. bah.
