I took my newest Cooper Arms rifle (Montana Varminter in .204 Ruger) to the range today to try and shoot some decent 100 yard groups. I wanted to finished the barrel break in and then see what it could do. The range was great today. Very few people with a 5-7 MPH wind which was moving straight away from me.
I was shooting 32 gr V-Max ammo from the Hunting Shack.
4K FPS of pure fun!
I shot 20 three shot groups. The worst group was .446". I shot 3 consecutive groups of .186", .296" and .266". These ended up being the best.
.39-.204=.186" group:
.47-.204=.266":
.50-.204=.296":
Kickin' major ass with a RRA 9mm carbine:
XD45 Tactical action shot:
The shot of the day?
I scored a headshot on a dragonfly at 100 yards using my Cooper MTV (with a witness, my buddy on a spotting scope, who told me to try for it's head when it landed on my target).
Damned if we didn't walk out and find the body less the head.
Good stuff! Finished the day with lunch on the water at our favorite after shooting watering hole.
