The questions first:

1. When you pull bullets, do you need to de-prime and resize or just reload? Essentially about 50 .222 remington magnums that have gotten mixed up. No longer know which ones have what wieghts. Also suspect I read the wrong charge in the manual. So when I pull the bullets do I just recheck the powder chrge and re-seat or do I de-prime, resize etc...

2. Is something like Flitz worth adding to the corncob media?

Now the : this can only happen to me.

I re-sized (neck) a bunch of .300 WM cases, trimmed to 2.610 , removed wax
primed, measured powder.. charged... went to seat the bullets. SMK 190 grs
and in about 5 cases out of fifty the bullet just fell through the neck into the powder without even being seted.

What have I done wrong? Do I need to resize post trimming as well?

You can take the de-priming pin out of the expander ball and just neck size the cases without de-priming them all.

As for the other question on the .300 WSM?

Wow! You do come up with some good ones!

*Are all the cases the same brand & lot?
*Have you measured your bullets?
*Have you measured your expander ball from the sizing die?
*Have you been messing around with neck-turning tools?
*Any chance you just somehow failed to neck-size the ones that were still loose?

Yes.. all federal fire formed from factory ammo. Same lot.
Bullets seated properly in other cases. I did not measure them
I havent measured the expander ball.
No neck turning tools ... so have played around with that.

Yup did neck resize.

My process is all brass in bucket post tumble. Pick and lube neck one at a time, place in tray 1. Red

Resize... place in tray 2 grey
Prime in tray one and so on and so forth.

Yes I can be trusted to come up with the wieredest situations.

I guess you might try neck sizing the .300 WM cases in the die with the expander ball removed. Would that make the interior diameter too small to seat the bullets?

Resized with the expander removed... worked like a charm.

It depends on the quality control you had going in. If I were you, I'd weigh the bullets, sort them out, then weigh the powder to make sure the charge is proper or simply dump the powder and recharge the case using fresh powder. No need to deprime, though you might need to use a neck sizer without the ball to tighten up the case neck a bit.

"2. Is something like Flitz worth adding to the corncob media?"

Here's a good concorb media mix I use: 50% corncob media, 50%crushed walnut shell - I then add a capful of Nu Finish Car polish to each load. You can use the Flitz, but the Nu Finish car polish is a lot more economical cost wise.

This cleans the cases nicely and gives them a slight slickness that helps when resizing.

Regards,

Dave

I use a cap of mineral spirits in small grain walnut and allow it to mix thoroughly before adding cases. The corn cob mix is great for pistol brass but is really a pain to dig out of tall, slim rifle cases...only did that once! Now there's a batch of media for pistol and another for rifle.
