which would you go with? and why? i dont really know much about it, im gonna be building a heavy barrel mosin out of spare parts and i'll be putting into a monte carlo stock, what would you do for accuracy?

Having done it a few times now, bedding pillers and just glass bedding the receiver. Putting in a heavy barrel I think you should just try to free float it.

Post pics when your done.:)

only floating it? i will probably have it all put together in a month or so, uk59 barrel i'll be ordering soon, ati stock, its a romanian receiver and the the trigger is already really nice so not sure if i'll put a timney trigger, maybe someday, just debating between the ati mount and the rock solid, money is the issue

The Finns use shims under the receiver. I will vouch for their way of doing things because I have several Finn Mosin Nagants that will shoot around 1 inch at 100 meters all day long if I do my part.....chris3

As long as the reciever is solidly in place. The stock barrels might like free floating, some seem to like shimming. I'd float a heavy barrel.

Show this off when you're done! A friend of mind tried to rebarrel a shot-out M44, and a 270-pound guy that rep benches his own weight couldn't get the barrel free with a bench vice and any combination of monkey wrench and cheater bar.

I'm going to be glass bedding the receiver on my "working pants" for the M28 Finn. The original stock is too fragile so I picked up another for customizing. I plan on floating the barrel as well, since it is a heavy SIG. Should have it done next month.
