Mosin M91/30 or M44?

I only have enough for one right now, but which Mosin should I get first, a laminate M91/30, or an M44 ?

that depends on what you want..... the M91/30 is a loooong rifle.....mine tends to be accurate.....

My M44 is loud and produces a big flash..... it draws attention at the range.....

buy both as soon as funds allow....

I would love to expand my rifle collection, and want to start with a mosin nagant. I have not really made up my mind as far as WHICH mosin nagant though. So far, locally, I have come across two nice ones. The first is a 1952 polish M-44 carbine which has NOT been counterbored, but has a non-numbers matching bolt. The stock is beat up, but the bluing is nice and looks original. Asking price 130 bucks.
The second rifle is a 1933 m91/30 Tula made hex reciever with a matching bolt, but HAS been counterbored and arsenal refinished. asking price 170 bucks.

Dang, are you guys talking about the same guns? Look at the bore, but I would lean towards the 91/30, if in similar condition.

I particularly don't care for laminate stocks, so I would therefore go with the M44. I am also a little biased as I have an M44 and no m91/30 (yet).

Thats what I plan on doing, I'm going to get a Mosin (probably a 91/30) then I'm going to get a M1 from CMP then restore it, then a I'll get a Kar 98K, or a Finnish M39

My first C&R was an SKS, next is a Mosin and then I really, really want an SVT-40.

I just got back from my friends house, he has a M91/30 and a M44, I shot both and I like both, I'm leaning towards the 91/30, but I'm still not sure which to get.

I have 2 M44's, an M38, and 2 M91/30 Of the 3 types the nicest to shoot by far is the 91/30!

Add another vote for 91/30. I bought mine, then ordered an ATI stock, threw on a 8-32 scope, bipod, did my own bolt treatment, bought some ammo and have been having a blast.

I still want to float the barrel and see if it helps any. I polished the trigger up and the sear following the Finnish directions which helped trigger break.
