Yup, I have breeding colony of mosins. These frakking idiots don't understand birth control.

Nice! I wish I could get mine to reproduce on their own...:p

Good lord! Give their cleaning rods the old snip-snip, quick before your house is burried in commie plows!

Every now and then in the course of rifles and rifle enthusiast comes along a rifle that if one is good then two logically gets better. Thus we have the Mosin group where Mosins multiply in assorted manufacturers and variations, you can never ever have too many. This phenomena exist with all sorts of guns. :)

Real nice Mosin collection you have there, enjoy them.

They're worse than rabbits! I think Gaucho may be on to something. They have rescue groups for unwanted dogs where people can be "foster parents" until they're adopted into a new home. I'd be more than happy to be a foster parent for Mosin....or pretty much any other gun.

Nice collection!! I really like the stock on that VKT. Definitely some nice rifles there.

I knew this was a Mosin thread before I clicked on it. Keep working on those numbers - you need an 18xx in there somewhere ; ) Oh - and you might want to think about one of these:

My mosins reproduce too, once they had an SVT-40. That was a good day, I keep waiting for them to make me one of those winchester lever actions.

My Mosin hasn't reproduced yet because it hasn't found a mate. But I have seen it hanging out with a Yugo SKS! Not sure how that's gonna turn out... at least it'll be 7.62. :D

Let's arrange some blind dates with three of my prettiest Enfields (no blonds, but one redhead), so that the offspring will have nice aperture sights, yet shoot Cheap ammo.

Miami_JBT, super nice collection! Have you had a chance to shoot all of them enough to get a feel for the differences? If so, how do you rank them? Also, how would you compare the M38 and M44, specifically?

The FS ears instantly ID the Finn M39, they are what I always look for in a rack of MN rifles. Not long ago in LGS, once got a nice M39 for $150.00, same price as the other run of the mill MN rifles in the rack.

A big fan --- now

Bought 2 38's about 7 years ago and a case of ammo.

They are a hoot to shoot and now that I see them in almost EVERY movie [ The Mummys, last night ] I appreciate them all the more.

I did not realize how many variants there were and I would LOVE to get a Polish model as I have been told they shoot the best.

I did 'butcher' one by removing the bayonet mount [ Dremeled off ] and I put it in a after market 'plastic' stock that is MUCH lighter than the layered wood stock that is HEAVY.

Much easier to hump and I took off the rear sight and mounted a 'rail' on that spot and have a LER scope or a red dot to mount there.

Another possible deer rifle .

I'm curious (as I only have one Mosin and, while I enjoy shooting it, it has a TERRIBLE trigger) which one is your favorite to shoot? What has attracted you to this series of rifles so much? I've been thinking of picking up another one just to see how she compares to my first, this thread is almost enough to push me over the edge! I'd like to get one of the shorter carbines next I think.

Edit: I went and grabbed my Mosin, curious as to what I could do to help the trigger out. I found that the two screws that hold the trigger guard/box magazine to the barrel, etc. were extremely loose. Tightening these somehow took a lot of the "spongeyness" out of the trigger and it breaks much more cleanly and has much less pre-travel and play in it. I just wanted to post this in the event that it helps someone else out. I basically purchased the rifle, shot it once, and put it away. Should have looked it over years ago.
