I'm curious (as I only have one Mosin and, while I enjoy shooting it, it has a TERRIBLE trigger) which one is your favorite to shoot? What has attracted you to this series of rifles so much? I've been thinking of picking up another one just to see how she compares to my first, this thread is almost enough to push me over the edge! I'd like to get one of the shorter carbines next I think.

I like shooting the carbines; they're lighter, handier, and make bigger fireballs than their longer counterparts. Kick harder too.

The Remington by far shoots the softest since the 7.62x54R was designed for that barrel length. The M38 is like a rabid mule. Wild and hard hitting. The Polish is tied with the M39. Out of them all I'd take the M39 as a go to rifle. Smooth, crisp trigger, and accurate.

I collect Mosin Nagants, Mausers, Enfields, etc... the Mosin Nagants because they have such a interesting history. American, Russian, Soviet, Finnish, Polish, Hungarian, Romanian, Estonian, Chinese, Czech, etc... from 1891 to the 1960s they have been used and produced. They are continued to be used by various factions and groups to this day in combat. They were rifles of conquest, subjection, resistance, freedom, and independence.

After my ww2 firearms stopped reproducing. My soviet surplus multiplied in a year. Started out with a 91/30 tula and a yugo sks. Ended up with all these. The makarov is a balgarin.

JPG, there's lots of good information both here on THR as well as generally out on the web if you search for "mosin trigger".

Miami JBT, that sure is a nice collection. And as so many have said that Fin VKT sure is purrrty.

After shooting half a SPAM can of milsurp I finally tried out some Privi ammo. The gain in accuracy with good ammo simply gob smacked me. In fact I'm only going to keep the remaining open can and sell off the other full one. It's my plan to mostly shoot my own reloads in the future and enjoy the accuracy that the rifles are clearly capable of providing instead of the poor performance guaranteed by the old milsurp stuff.
