I have a Mosin Nagant M-44. I'd like to put a new barrel on this thing since it seems to throw bullets sideways... That said, where might I get a barrel, and how do I remove the old one?
-Are you shooting it with the bayo extended? If not, try that. They were sighted in with the bayonet extended, and without it extended they tend to shoot to the side. (at least that's my understanding)
-If that doesn't work, and you want better accuracy, just buy another one. It's a win-win. You get better accuracy, and now you have two, which is never a bad thing.
+1 on trying it with the bayonet out.
If not that, try adjusting the front sight a little for windage.
If your bullets are actually causing oblong holes in the target I'd also suggest a replacement rifle. If they're just not hitting where your sights are, that's not so hard to correct. Usually.
Hey, Ive gotten my mosin to keyhole too, it was a mix of bad ammo and shooting at 50 yards (at 100 and 200 yards, said bad ammo was punching round holes again)
Before you start messing with the gun, try a diffrent batch of ammo.
The barrel is most likely not the offender here- that same Mosin has fired sub-MOA on a good day.
