Anybody have a picture of (or better yet have in your collection) a Mosin Nagant of the proper model, scope, mount etc. to be a Soviet sniper's rifle à la "Enemy at the Gates"?

Please share the details and where to find the right scope, mount, etc. if you can. I am not talking about a genuine original here, just looking for what I would need to put one together for fun.

Thanks!

I turned my 91/30 into a sniper, it was a fun project.
here are a couple pics.

Here is how it shoots at 100 yards.

Hmm, this seems like something that may be fun. I would love to have my Mosin look like yours TIMC.

BTW - where in Texas are you?

TIMC,

If you don't mind me asking, how much did that setup cost you? I've got a 91-30 Ex-Sniper that I'd like to restore to its original configuration.

That's exactly what I had in mind, TIMC, and looks great, but a $250 scope and mount are a bit much for what I hope will be a $100 rifle. Does anyone know if the mounts and/or scopes available surplus?

TIMC,

Rifle was $70 when I bought it about 6-7 years ago.
Scope and mount was $270
Gunsmith charged $60 to drill and tap the receiver.
$60 for the bent bolt body.
$40 for the Krinkov brake. I threadded the barrel myself.
couple of bucks on supplies to strip and refinish the stock.
I have about $500 invested in it.
Here is another pic of it in action to prove a 65 year old rifle will still do the job. This if I remember right was January 2007 when I took this pig. This was a head shot at about 100 yards using my own hand loads and 180 grain bullets.

Your not going to find one and get it looking period correct for Much less than I invested. Surplus scopes are even more than the repros when you can find them. There are cheaper mounts and scopes but none work as well as the original IMHO

I have been looking for a while at re-snipering my ex-sniper.

The cheapest you will find a scope/mount for right now is $180, and that is for the aluminum mount (junky)

For a steel mount with the scope expect to pay at least $210-250

Accumounts sells a set, and you can find the repro sets all the time on Ebay or Gunbroker.
