My local shop had a case of Mosins for $139 each. I went back after 2 weeks and they were all gone! These were in armory refinished condition.

They had 2 that looked like the pics I see on internet for $269... But they had 2 that looked like them also BUT the bolt mechanisms were smaller, and they were $129...

Please tell me what is the difference?

All 4 were very long so I know they weren't M44s. The more expensive ones had A big Star on them and date 1909 or 1939.

Well yes, that is what I was shopping for, a M91 but why the large and small bolts? I've read everywhere these rifles should be $80.

Small was $129
Large was @269

Why?

All the Mosin bolts are pretty much the same length from the M91 to the M44.
Do you mean the bolt handle was longer?

no

an M91 has the same bolt as a 91/30 or any of the following rifles

are u sure it wasnt a polish .22 WZ48 trainer?

id like to know more. roughly how long was the rifle. where was this?

The more expensive ones had A big Star on them and date 1909 or 1939.

the star is Tula arsenal in that year range. that range spans the M91, M38 and 91/30 but either one would have a standard mosin bolt.

The cheaper ones with the smaller bolts had the same type of handle and looked identical but the feed ramp was tiny and the bolt itself seemed smaller. Other than that the rifles were the long dragoon style.
