Hey guys,
I just got a 51M (b) semi-auto 22LR. Its obviously pretty old and not in the best shape. Problem is that it wont cycle semi-auto. I have taken everything out and cleaned them very well and polished some of the major grime off but it still does not work. It will fire single shot but not semi. What could cause this. Should I just replace the internals and see if that helps? Thanks!

Andy

What ammo are you shooting? The Mossbergs like the the high velocity. There are many knowledgeable people at RFC that can help as well.

I guess I was pretty vague. I am shooting the cheap Remington Thunderbolts. At first the magazine wasnt releasing the next round so I cleaned up the lips. Now it tries to feed another round but both rounds just jam up before the spent case is ejected. After looking at the extractor it has been pretty worn down and does absolutely nothing to hold the spent case to the bolt (it just falls off). Im kinda thinking that the spent case is falling just enough to slow the bolt down so that it is not going back far enough to grab the next round. Im just gonna keep playin with it and see what I can find. Thanks for the input.

i have one (actually, mine is a 151) of these as well, mine was double and triple firing, and jamming a lot. i took it to a gun smith and he said he found a small burr worn onto the firing pin, after i got it back, i tried running a couple of boxes of shells through it. and it started doing the same thing. i took it apart and cleaned the crud out of it with spray brake cleaner, then a 1/2 of can of gun scrubber aresol. i sprayed very stingilly evrything down with hoppes dry lubricant and started feeding it ONLY BRAND NEW CCI MINI MAGS AND WINCHESTER SUPER X AMMO i am not sure which one did the job, the cleaning and dry lube, or PREMIUM ammo, but it hant had a misfire / jam in 10 boxes. pretty good for a 65+ year old gun that my family has put at least 10.000 rounds through.
