Added a two round extension to the Glock 43 mags that I had purchased for the pistol. Being a Glock clone, some parts just interchange like mags and guide rods. The SI branded extension works, looks stupid, had to be modified to fit (at the base) and figs well in the hand. Stupid looking but allows a better grip. Opinions? Who has an MC1? Once I replaced the factory guide rod it has been reliable and accurate enough.

I don't know.

Here are my thoughts on it, I don't get it.

I can't justify extending a compact gun, I'd just get a full size gun if I wanted that long of a grip. The grip is the only part that's tough to conceal, you could easily have a 10" barrel but a short grip and conceal it no problem. So you've sacrificed sight radius and muzzle velocity for concealment and then removed the concealment advantage .

Seriously , I'm not knocking you I just don't understand when folks do this. I need to mention, your pinky does not need someplace to rest, it adds almost nothing to grip strength. I think its psychological for people , they don't like having their pinky floating in the breeze .

I keep my carry guns as short in the grip as I can get, a g30 with a 9 round mag leaves me nowhere to put my little pinky yet I can shoot a g30 as well or better than a g21. For me it's normal, my first 3 handguns were SAA clones and they're meant for a pinky curled under the grip.

This same apply to the g19x, it's totally backwards with a long trip but short barrel. A friend that has one said it's so you can clear the holster quicker, I think not.

So I do want to ask, why?
If it's your only gun and you want to increase capacity, I get it. But it's not like anyone buys a tiny gun as a range toy. Help me understand.

How you like that Mossberg?

Excellent points. Hence I have both mags. Extended and not extended. It is a compromise to extend. It does exactly what you said. I do find it easier to grip with the extension. But it’s smaller without.

I like the MC1. I purchased it and a Sig 365. My wife likes the p365 so it’s hers. The Mossberg fits the hand well. Trigger is for a striker so there’s that. Takedown is fast. Reliability upon purchase sucked and then some. Failure to lock up happened at least once almost every mag. Upon replacement of the guide rod with a Glock model fixed it. I shoot it a lot. Since the change no failures with any ammo. Even mixed loads. Without reliability what good is a pistol.

I don’t carry most of the time. I might put it in the truck now and then. Even with the extended mag, it fits in the winter jacket pocket just fine.

Thank you for your comments. I asked for opinions. You gave excellent ones.

I have five pistols. Four auto’s. One revolver. Three are 9’s.

I have the Mossberg MC 1 and really like it. I was so pleasantly amazed how great it shot compared to other small pistols.

I live alone and feel comfortable keeping mine under the kitchen cabinets.

Unfortunately for your post, I have the identical opinions that Obturation has.

Fortunately he posted before me and did a much better job at expressing those thoughts than I could.

But hey, if if works for you and you like it then that’s what counts.

Notice that the + 1 mag with pinky rest is in the gun. For this purpose I’m fine. But if carrying, the flush mag will be in. When shooting at the range I prefer the flush mags as well, because after all I’m practicing/training how I plan to carry it. Another reason I never understood the +1,2,3,4 craze that started 20(?) years ago.

I have the two factory mags that came with the pistol. I also picked up some Glock 43 Mags at the PX at Fort Drum. They were on sale a bunch over the holidays so I got six. Three now have extensions and three don't. Thanks for your input. I do actually like the pistol or I wouldn't have taken the time to work with it and practice with it. I settled on Hornady 115 XTP's loaded with No 7. It has shot everything I have used so far without a problem. Including 124's and 147's.
