Anyone have any experience with the Mossberg SSi's? My dealer had one in .243 and offered me a great deal on it if I took it right then but I had other priorities. My think of one in the future but not right now. Any scoop on them?

Haven't shot any of them... in a nutshell, they seem like they have a nicer stock than the H&R/NEFs and maybe 10% better finish work than the H&R/NEFs at at least 50% more cost.

I certainly wouldn't rule one out if I came across a good deal on one but I doubt I'd pop for the difference on a new one either.

I paid $360 for my 700ADL (with no iron sights) and around here, most of the SSis I've seen were priced at about $330 or $340.

The two I've seen both had terrible metalwork and stocks. Good idea, poorly executed....

Any other experiences with a Mossberg SSi?

Galyan's here locally is selling them at $230. They ordered a trial shipment, but decided that Mossberg was marketing them poorly and they are getting rid of the SSis they have in stock. If you've been thinking of one, a trip or phone call to check out your local Galyan's might be worthwhile.
