My beautiful 22 year old daughter has decided that she needs to spend quality time with her old man and so we've been spending our friday afternoons shooting. :) :) :) I've borrowed a buddies 22/45 and she shoots my Ruger Mark II target (gov't model) which has had about a bazillion rounds through it. Anyway, If she keeps shooting with me I'm gonna have to return my buddies pistol and pick up another one. Her primary interest right now is shooting groups on paper with all of them touching.

Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

Have a good one,
Dave

Greeting's Sir-

Its my feel'in that a lovely young lady needs a comparable firearm to
start what we hope is a long and lasting firearm relationship. With
that said, I recommend a Browning Buckmark SE Classic, with Tru-
Glo fiber optic (green) front sight, and beautiful Rosewood laminate
grips, with gold trigger accents and a 5.5" bull barrel. These weapons
are super accurate, and make for an excellent beginner handgun.:D

+1 on the Buckmark. My wife loves shooting the Buckmark. It's an ego booster :D

Buckmark is a tack driver, and it's easy as all get-out to strip. Get the Standard and replace the sights w/ something that's not black on black.

I think you should take this lovely young lady to the gun shop and share the experience of dad buying her first handgun for her; and let her pick out the 22 she wants. She may want a Ruger like one of two she's been shooting, she may like the Browning Buckmark. She might fall in love with an old Colt Woodsman, or find an affinity for one of the old S&W offerings. If she's open to a wheel gun don't hesitate to look at a S&W K-22; one of the finest 22 target pistols of either action type, but I'm a whee bit biased. On that note, who knows, she might like the idea of an SA revolver and want a Ruger Single Six. Plenty of very accurate 22 pistol options out there, enjoy helping her pick out HER new pistol.

How about another Ruger MK II Target? They might not be quite as classy as a S&W 41 or a Hamden High Standard but they are still one of the best .22 autos available. I have a S&W 41, High Standard Victor, Beretta 89 Gold Target. I still shoot my Ruger MK II Target with a 5 1/4 tapered barrel more than the other three combined. It won't outshoot the other three autos but it will hold its own and functions flawless with any ammo put in it. It was picked up for the reasonable price of $250.00. :)

In this price ramge nothing, and I mean NOTHING, will beat russian IZH-35 M

It costs $400-450 and the monies are well spent

Used CZ75B in 9mm-$375.00
add the .22 Kadet Conversion Kit-$225.00

Your daughter gets a accurate, well-made .22 and a 9mm SD pistol.

Best of both worlds.

Thanks guys . . . .I don't know why taking her to the gunshop never occurred to me. She has Thursday-Saturday off so I could take a friday afternoon off and drive her over to the gunshop in Pekin. (nobody locally has anything in stock). The biggest thing seems to be the grip size. The 22/45 she can shoot but the grip seems a little too big for her hands. I put a set of hogue grips on my MKII Target and that seems to fit her pretty good so I "think" a buckmark might fit her too. I'll have to see what her schedule is. (Now if I could just get her mom shooting too . . . . :) )

Have a good one,
Dave
