Most accurate AR15s

I’d say any AR-15 built by a reputable builder for a Service Rifle competition is going to be the most accurate.

That said, the AR-15 can easily be made to be very accurate with good components and careful assembly.

The AR-15 is an amazing platform.

Any National Match set up AR15.
My RRA with a free float handguard, has a match trigger and Wilson 20” 1/8” heavy match barrel.
I’ve gotten 3” groups with it with 80gr Sierra MatchKings, @600yds. Iron sights!
But couldn’t shoot that now due to 10yr older eyes... (0.061” rear aperture, NM front sight).
Also, 3.5lb lead weight in butt stock... 14lb rifle.

A post ban rifle allows the shooter to more easily monitor muzzle erosion on heavily used barrels.
Most are considered spent at about 3,500rds.
For replacement barrels, Bartlien, Brux, and Shilen are considered tops.

My equation that has worked to produce accurate ARs has been good barrel + good glass + good trigger. I've used relatively cheap Aero, Anderson and PSA upper/ lower combined with generic LPKs and free float handguards that work really well.

This one is a Aero upper/lower with a WOA barrel, leupold 3-9X, Larue MBT2 trigger. Everything else is bargain bin generic. With factory 77gr Fiocchi it'll do sub MOA easily to 500.
I like that setup. No unnecessary frills, good quality upper/lower with good glass, barrel and trigger.

My best shooting has been with a Colt HBar match target. 77 grain Sierras over 24.9 grains of RL15. Winchester factory primed brass. Barrel floated. Elftman trigger.
This is one that I shot in practice - prone, iron sights, 100 yards. F66212BD-48D7-4295-922D-3FD47AE1766A.jpeg

My doublestar 6.8spc is the most accurate gun in my safe. Easily the most accurate. If I build another rifle it will be with either doublestar or white oak uppers. If I build a big bore starting with a 4 then it will be cheap because they don’t have the effective range to really need much in the accuracy dept.

A good trigger is everything, no matter what platform. A great trigger can make a crappy barrel shoot better. Great barrel with a crappy trigger is more than likely still going to shoot crappy. I love my Geisseles and Timney. Imo it's where to start for accuracy.

Good barrels, good triggers, proper scopes, free floating handguards, solid stocks, and well developed loads. That’s been the consistent recipe for me to assemble literally hundreds of uppers achieving sub-MOA results. Little tricks and traps here and there seem to make life easier along the way, but even without these, the above list will achieve the goal.

I don’t buy uppers any more and have not in many years, but Compass Lake, White Oak, Mike Milli, and GA Precision would be the only folks who would get my money if precision were the objective of the day (which is typically the case whenever I’m building an AR). For barrels, I’ve never been disappointed by a Shilen, Craddock/Bartlein, Proof, Krieger, or even Black Hole Weaponry barrel. I prefer Geissele Hi Speed Nat’l Match 2 stage triggers, but have been very happy with Bushmaster Nat’l Match 2 stage triggers, and content enough for plinking use with Geissele G2S, Rock River Nat’l Match and Varmint Match, and Larue MBT2’s. For Single Stage, Elftmann. I use AGB’s for most of my builds to give control to the shooter, and H2 buffers to smooth out the recoil impulse. For a Carbine stock, Magpul UBR, for fixed stocks, Luth-AR, Magpul PRS, or XLR. I prefer long handguards for long bipod span, favoring 18-20” handguards when possible - but I highly favor integrated arca rails for some applications, which I’ve not yet found offered on 18-20” rails (but on 16” guards).

Frankly, given a rifle built with the original list I offered above, chambered in 223/5.56, if I load 27.3grn of Varget under a book length 50grn Vmax, if it doesn’t shoot sub-MOA, I know something is wrong with the rifle.

I bought a Rock River Arms predator pursuit with a heavy barrel. It came with a 3/4" moa guarantee from RRA. Mine did better with factory ammo and even shrunk the group more with custom loads for it.
