When I first me Alabama Dan back in 72 he was the proud owner of a mint
Smith & Wesson, blued model 57,41 magnum with a 4 inch barrel. It was a beautiful thing to behold and shoot. As the great Bob Hope sang it "thanks for the memories".

There's a reason my first gun as a 1911. It wasn't so much the history,or the shootability. It was the presence that platform has on me. Absolutely beautiful. As to a specific 1911, well... I like so many varieties that I'll just leave it at the platform.

No matter how hard you try to make a Glock look better....:D somethings just aren't meant to be.

Wish I had a color photo to do it justice....the Browning Medalist (Renaissance version) is without question, drop dead beautiful. Elegant lines and styling, grips and forearm gracefully done in highly figured carved walnut. Engraving by the Leige masters is icing on the cake. Unfortunately only a few hundred were ever made....most of those are in locked away in collectors vaults.

My 5.5" Single Six in stainless. For me, its lines are just perfect. Cary Chapman's spalted maple grips set it off perfectly.

Also my 1935 vintage Smith 38/44. Excellent condition with some holster wear. It had the wrong grips when I got it so I had a set made up by our very own Executioner, aka Patrick Grashorn. Wow.

I can look at both of them for hours.

Agreed, Texshooter! For sheer beauty, the Browning Hi-Power. Not jazzed up, not engraved, just clean, lovely lines.

This one's easy.

Before anyone says anything crude, let's think about this. The government called upon a small division of the General Motors company whom knew nothing about firearms (but a hell of a lot about mass production) to design and build a large number of simple pistols that would be dropped across german-occupied areas for the citizens to use for defense. Millions of these were made for the citizens of those countries.

It is absolutely beautiful that our government decided that throwing free ammunition and firearms to citizens who were victims of oppression was the right thing to do. This weapon literally stands for the right to bear arms.

The most beautiful gun to me is one that goes bang with every pull of the trigger, even under the most extreme conditions, and I'm able to hit my target with it.
