We all know the old clique, "beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder", right?

With that in mind, I would like to know what one handgun stands out
in your mind as the most beautiful handgun in the world. Please, please list
only one handgun, past or present that YOU think deserves this title. And,
please only submit one entry per member~! I know that we could fill pages
up with this question, but I'm doing a comparison of all guns; and would just
love to know what you think deserves this title?

I will kick things off- after careful consideration, my vote go too the Smith
& Wesson model 39-2, the single-stack, DA/SA favorite of the 60's amd 70's.
I like its sleek look, clean apperance. with its factory walnut grips with the
S&W logo. Its just something about this weapon that draws my immediate
attention. Its too bad, that is was dropped from the S&W catalog in favor
of the high capacity model 59's. I have owned many, including a beautiful
factory nickel model 39-2, with S/N A222567 that I let slip thru my hands
UNFIRED. You know what, I wished I had it back. Well, yesterday (05-11-
07) I acquired an excellent blued model 39-2 with S/N A661XXX which I
am proud to own. Once I get it cleaned up the way it should be, I will
take some outside snap shots for all to enjoy. In the meantime, I would
love to know how you all feel, in regards to your one and only favorite
handgun. Please give us as much history related to your choice as is
possible. Thank you very much in advance~!

Respectfully,

Nickel S&W 36 dash nothing with light blond magna grips.

I saw one once (belonged to a friend's father) and I have never seen another one exactly like it since. I think that if I saw that perfect revolver in a gun store somewhere I wouldn't even ask for the price, just whip out the credit card.

the most beautiful handgun i ever saw was a .44 magnum auto mag...... i love the vent rib and cylindrical (spelling) shape of the reciever on these great handguns.... the next has to be a 6" s&w model 27.... i have one and it's the gun i'd wanted since i started shooting.... the tapered barrel, the rib down the barrel, the fine checkering on the top strap and barrel rib and sights, the serated backstrap behind the grip panels, and the semi wide taget hammer and trigger make it one the most desirable guns for (me any anyway)......

Not my guns (I wish they were).

Both photos and guns are the property of Tom Harvey.

For just looking... that old pre 1970's colt deep beautiful finish.
-What was that custom maker... pre WW2 put a lot of forward weights on his 1911's.

Something like Sweeny?

I LOVE his work, but am having a brain fart and can't remember his name. (And Don't know where I've got the books it's in right now)

They just got em..

For anyone living here in So. Calif, there are, at least, 10 - 12 pristine pistols, snub nose, to full size, all calibers, like the bottom pic, of all size revolvers from an Estate Sale, at the following place in their original boxes and the wax paper (looks like) they came in under each of them:

Evan's Gunsmithing Shooters World
Orange County, Calif.

Believe me, they're all old jems, and in pristine condition.

Revolver : Python, no doubt !

Pistol : well, more difficult. I would say Luger .

It's hard not to gaze upon a Colt WW2 1911 or SA revolver and not be taken in by the impact thruout history these guns have had on our countries evolution which makes them very significant. But the most beautiful is the H&K P7M8 dressed up in Nill walnut grips.:what:

I really can't say. My opinion seems to differ from week to week. If it even takes that long to change. I get short stints of being hooked on the looks of one gun or another, until something else catches my fancy and I move on.

Two that have always been most appealing to me are the Python and Hi-Power.

3 or 4" barrel Model 27 or Model 29 - like Lee Marvin's in Point Blank.

Looks tough, but has great lines and that deep bluing.
