Most gun friendly, beautiful state?

Feel free to come to Oregon just dont inflate our housing prices any more and certainly dont bring your gun laws with you. On second thought just in case move to Florida.

Utah also seems like a great place I am considering moving their myself.

OK, so I lied about it all except the part about Californians.

That's very funny as I have a friend who moved there for a year before he ran back here. He had no tolerance for rain. He knew I'd always been interested and he told me the first thing I should do if I ever move to Oregon was get Oregon plates on my car to avoid vandalism. :)

Of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder and except for the beaches I believe Utah fits most of your criteria. There are mountains, deserts, forests, dunes, streams, lakes and an honest four seasons. About the only thing it doesn't have is an abundance of large cities (shucks). It has reasonably friendly CCW/gun views and still has open areas to shoot. It's unfortunate that they've closed the borders to all new comers. :D

So. Nevada has beaches - of course they are dry lake beds... we also have large thick forests with lake beds...on golf courses... I had a friend who used to be the assistant grounds superintendant at the Shadow Creek golf course, and he was allowed to hunt and fish on the grounds before the golfers got there. This doesn't help you, I know. Maybe northern Nevada? :)

Vermont is my choice.

Beautiful scenery, clean atmospheres, brooks and streams overflowing with fish, and deep forests plentiful with game. Clear, cold and beautiful winters bringing back reminders of the oldtime buckskinners and their campfires and long flintlocks and folk songs.

Please don't consider Missouri or Indiana.

Far too many of us rednecks with no sense of humor.

I'm writing the CA Bureau of tourism and suggesting they put all ya'll in charge. You make us Californians feel so welcome.

O.K., based on the kind offers, I'm moving to CO or KY and telling everyone we meet that you guys invited us. By "US", I mean my family and the other 35 families of illegal aliens I'm bringing with me. Diane Feinstein is my sister in law so she's coming too. Says she wants to run for office when she gets there.

Oh, can I get a map to all the local Starbucks and Tofu restaurants?

Surfs up BRO'S!!!!

:D

Vermont is my choice.

Only if one avoids Burlington, Rutland, Bennington, Springfield, Montpelier, etc. (in other words, the more developed areas). Northern VT is quite nice and less populated than the rest but the taxes in the whole state are insanely high...

I'm heading to Alaska...should get up there this summer to build my cabin but I'll be stuck elsewhere for a year or two to get the land paid off entirely...

I've heard the bears up there only eat people from California.

Seriously though, to the original poster, one suggestion for you: when you move to a place don't try to change it into what you left behind. I've been ranting about the "flat landers" as they're called here in VT for years because they're turning this state into another MA or NY...keep this in mind wherever you move, especially with you being from California...will help you avoid being hated by the locals...

Oklahoma We got a 2 on the brady scorecard, tied with KY for last place

Oklahoma is highly underrated. I love it here. I have lived other places and have always found my way back. We have a large number of nice lakes. The eastern part of the state in my opinion is the prettiest. We have some areas that give the Ozarks a run for their money. The more west you go the flatter it gets but is still pretty in its own right.

Our economy seems to be ignoring the "recession". There was even an article in the paper here recently about how we continue to grow while other folks are stagnating.
Our gun laws are reasonable. We recently added the castle doctrine to the books. It usually isn't too hard to get a permit to carry. When I've gotten pulled over and show my CHL to the cop they usually say "can I see it" this is mainly because they like guns too. I almost always get in to a gun discussion with a cop after showing my permit.

Most of our "Democrats" should really be republicans, but their grandad was one etc... Our women are pretty good looking, there is always something to do (don't listen to outsiders).

We love our guns in Oklahoma (only 2pts for prohibiting on school grounds on the Brady score card. In THEIR eyes we are almost the worst:D ), we also love our sushi and lattes (Shawnee even has a Starbucks). It is not uncommon to see me at Sushi Neko in OKC in my boots. Tulsa and OKC both have a pretty good music scene (Tulsa's is slightly better, but they got them a higher crime rate). The best reason of all to live here is..........SOONER FOOTBALL:D

Become one of us you won't regret it. I work with a California transplant and he loves it here. He now has hi-cap magazines for all of his guns :)

I took a trip to AZ, but sorry, the heat sucks.

If you didn't get any farther north than Phoenix, you haven't really been to AZ. I can't really say that we've got a lot of lakes and rivers, but we've got a few.

Since you said you don't like the snow, don't even consider Tahoe. The snow sucks. The snowboarding sucks. The people suck. The lake is not really that blue. Tahoe is just a wannabe Colorado, and it's not even close. Plus, it's still California. Don't even visit. It's a waste of time in any season.

colorado is amazing!
beautiful weather, amazing skiing/hiking/kayaking/triathlons/view, however the political climate changed(dems got slight majority now), still a very ebr friendly state.

I don't know about the rest of Florida, but I'd advise against at least South Florida, defined (by me) as anything south of Orlando. Once you get north of Orlando, from the little bit I've seen though, it's ok (from what I can tell).

I've lived here 98% of my life or so. I really want out.

Florida is full please try back when the snowbirds have left.

If you do make down here just remember- NY and New England are the East Coast, Michigan and Canada are on the West coast.

The Everglades are for the real floridians.

I'll third Virginia.

We have no state restriction on open carry for anyone allowed to own a pistol.
CHL's are easy to get.
The repeal of the "restaurant ban" on concealed carry is going to the governor right now (open carry in a restaurant or bar has always been ok).
No registrations, no special bans, and regular, large gun shows in various locations across the state.
We have the model local gun rights group, the VCDL.

On the natural side:
We have SEASONS. It gets hot in the summer but nowhere near Florida, cold in the winter but nowhere near Alaska.
Natural disasters? No fires, no earthquakes, no hurricanes, no tornadoes, nothing.
Thick forests, mountains, plains, swamps, beaches, ocean, rivers - we have it all.
A quarter of the Appalachian Trail goes through Virginia.
Fishing? Everything from mountain lakes to the Chesapeake bay to the Atlantic.
Hunting? Plenty of Whitetail, turkey, small game, and enough black bear for the serious.

In addition....
If you like food, you're not going to find a better variety outside the DC area without going to New York (which, incidentally, is a train ride away).
Plenty of tech jobs, if that's your line of work.
In NOVA, diversity isn't a liberal concept, it's the guy in the cube next to you, and since he may have fled a dictatorial regime, he'll understand the gun thing a lot quicker than Berkeley kids.
There's so much stuff to see in DC that locals can't even list it all.
If you like history, I think PA is the only state that could give us a run for our money.
And best of all, if you're in CA then our two biggest drawbacks - the traffic and housing costs - really won't bother you that much!
We have people moving in and out regularly so we don't have any of that "we hate Californians" stuff going on, and we long-timers are happy to have fellow gunners move in!!!
