+1 for Texas, if u cant find what you want in our state, then u are beyond salvation, gun laws are easy to work with, LEOs that i've meet, when they find u carry will only ask to see it and maybe even compare their ideas on handguns with you and wish u a safe time! Best part, Texas hospitality, no better to be found unless u get stuck in Houstn area, there u just broil in summertime! LOL
...BUT...it'll be hard to leave the bikinis, snow bunnies, Lakers, Dodgers, USC, UCLA, SCUBA diving, snow boarding, sunny afternoons, surfing, body surfing, Santa Monica, lobster/shrimp lunches, Hollyweird, movie, Disneyland, Universal Studios, Magic Mtn, Bakersfield, Fisherman's Wharf, Golden Gate bridge, Downtown, etc...
You'd MISS Bakersfield? Oh, boy. I'd LOVE to miss Bakersfield. My family has called it "The Armpit of California" for years, even when some lived there. If the city fell off the map, I wouldn't shed any tears. The farmland is good to stay, though.

Travel Visa' for Colorado.

Californians will have to get a vacation visa stamped on their passport to visit Colorado. Californians will be stopped at the nearest truck stop to the border. You will be asked to verify your status.

1. Are you open carrying.
2. Have you brought at least :

A. 2 handguns with 5000 rounds of fmj
B. 2 long guns, one should have a short barrel and be black.
C. A supply of tofu that will get you through your visit.
D. Magazines for your weapons that exceed 30 round capacity.
E. A notary witnessed document promising your return to Ca.

3. Do you agree to buy at least 3 firearms during your stay?

4. Recent travel restrictions for those with smart ass tendencies are in effect. Please be advised that your stay in Colorado will be limited to the city of Denver. And therefore forget about anything mentioned above about firearms.:banghead:

Welcome to Colorado!
:D

Move to Michigan. It is awesome here. Low unemployment rate. Affordable housing. Low taxes. Good climate for business/entrepreneurs. In fact, I will even sell you my house. ;)

ETA
Subject to GCA '86, full auto allowed here. I will even throw in furnishings w/ the home.

Anywhere in the Ozarks, either Missouri or Arkansas. Humid in the summer, cold in the winter, but other than that..........

Judging from your post I would recommend staying where you are as your personality and attitude seem to be a perfect fit. Do not come to Alaska you will not make it with your attitude.

E. A notary witnessed document promising your return to Ca.
Not necessary if you become a life member to the RMGO ... in which case your presence here cancels out one Boulderite (who's probably another former Californian anyway).

Hey all you MT folks, We don't want any california's in FLORIDA Either Send them somewhere else:)

However we may be more tolarant of a Californian that like guns........

Gotta put in a vote for Alabama. Forests, lakes, rivers, good people, mountains (well kinda....not really), beautiful beaches on the gulf coast, the best barbeque you will find, and of course CCW permits are easy to come by, and gun laws are what they should be everywhere. Also, $300,000 here buys you a beautiful house in a great neighborhood, not a starter home in Bakersfield.

Gunshine State of Florida. I moved here last year from California. More sunshine and humidity but that's the opportunity cost to having more 2nd amendment rights compared to California

Stay out of Wyoming at all costs. The natives are all beerswillling pickupdriving rednecks, winter lasts from September 1 until July 1, there is no culture, beaches are in very short supply and you are 150 miles from a mall!! Not all all a good place for a hip young Kalifornio!!:(

Sounds to me you would be better off staying where you are. ;)

All of the above submitted with no intention of disrespect, of course. :D

Maine used to be a great place, but now it's turned into north Massachusetts. We have friendly gun laws, but that will change, we've got a heavy concentration of libs in the state legislature.

I suggest Florida. Plenty of hotheaded virile young men to offset the ugly women in Montana.

*shrug* Ugly women don't bother me. As long as they know how to bake and shoot. ;)

I can't believe no one has mentioned...

New Hampshire. There is NO state more gun friendly than NH. The people are the best (and that's a lot coming from a died-in-the-wool Southerner), the pace of life is the best, the cigar stores are the best (Castro's Back Room, I miss you!), the hunting is the best, the fishing is the best, the scenery is the best, and to top it off, they are considering leaving the Union. No sales/income tax. Close enough to Boston so that if you want big city you've got it. A great place to raise your kids as they are safe from crime, but they have to look out for the big bull moose when he comes through. When my wife birthed our last child 4 years ago in Peterborough I took 6 weeks off from work to take care of her, the baby, and our other children. I did not have to cook a meal for over a month, because people brought meals by all of the time. Southerners have nothing over small town NH when it comes to courtesy.

What more could you ask for?

Well, the women could shave their legs during the winter for one. And I'm not just talking about my wife.

The dang blackflies are a nuisance like nothing else I have ever seen.

One story: A guy had come up from Georgia to interview for a youth pastor's slot at our church, and I was talking to him when one of the old timers walked up and said, "Ayuh, up heah in New Hampshah, we'ah all heavily ahhhmed."

Talk about gun friendly. I do miss the place.

North Dakota would be my first choice if I lived in California, second choice
might be Delaware.

Florida is OK

The worst thing about Florida is people come here from...wherever, and that's okay, but the ones that make things difficult are the ones that came here from differant political climates. Being used to different rules, they start calling for stricter rules.:banghead:

I have noticed a tendancy for people to like Florida, then stay here, eventually trying to MAKE FLORIDA LIKE WHERE EVER THEY CAME FROM! :fire: My neighbor is from CT. He's a redneck, of which he has no idea.:D

If you move here, don't have a large dog, or buy a double wide trailer, or have too many trees in your yard. If you do, the insurance companies won't insure your house.:(

We have many people settle here from New York, and they vote for the gun-banner of their choice, as is their right, but you get the picture.

Tourists are the reason we don't have Open Carry. They did it for one day and changed their minds because it scared the tourists.

Our state tax is paid by sales tax, at or about 7%.

Ranges are a little hard to come by, at least where I live. I have to drive at LEAST an hour to go somewhere to shoot, so I don't go anymore.

It is easy to get a permit here if you pass criminal background muster.

Gun Free Zones not specified on your permit paperwork don't carry the color of law, that is to say, they can ask you to leave, but not arrest you. ALTHOUGH PLACES ON THE LIST WILL LAND YOUR CAN IN THE CLINK!

You can carry a handgun in your car as long as it is not "readily accessable" and "securely encased", without a permit, but not on your person or as easily as if on your person (in a holster wedged between the seats).

Why the mass exodus from California? You guys have arguably the most beautiful state in the union. Stay put and fix the problems that make you want to leave. If you feel like you have had enough and just have to get out remember why you left in the first place and don't import the same problems to a new state. This is beginning to happen big time in Colorado we are well on our way to becoming another California without the beach and the hot women that like to hang out on them.
