I'm sure there's been a similar thread before... But I'm casting my net wide, and without doing a ton of research was just hoping for your votes -- what are the most gun-friendly states?

Thanks!

Florida, Texas, Vermont, Idaho, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah
Oklahoma, Alaska (not particularly in that order)

Florida.

Everything legal at the federal level is legal in Florida. The "shall-issue" Florida CCW accepted by more states. CCW exempt from waiting period. State firearms laws supersede all local laws. The right of the individual to keep and bear arms is written in the State Constitution.

Who has that link to HCI or Brady or whatever that graded the states ?

I believe Nevada was only a D :banghead:

What about VT? you can carry concealed w/o a permit there. :D

Vermont is the most gun friendly state in the union. I live in MT, gun laws are pretty liberal here. Ewww, I said gun and liberal in the same sentence :barf:

TN doesnt have too many complaints. No real provision on that you have to carry concealed....just able to carry. So if you flash by accident you are totaly lible to loose your permit. but defintaly not the coolest in terms of people and their attitues, the general masse or as i call them the sheeple

Washington is pretty gun friendly. Shall issue CCW permits that are only $32 (as I remember) and good for 5 years. If you can legally buy a gun you can get a CCW permit, and as long as you're not a felon you can buy a gun here.

You can't own a class III weapon here though if you're a civilian.

There are a couple very active gun control groups here, but when their proposed laws get put before the people they've been shot down badly.

Surely someone has a link for that site that graded the various states according to how gun friendly they are. It was in a thread a couple months ago.
As it is, everyone is just naming where they live.

"Don't you think that many people who are into guns enough to post here would tend to live in the more gun friendly states? "

No, I would be willing to bet that the vast majority of people on here live where they live for reasons other than guns. Note how many people here are from California.
On the other hand, I happen to live in an extremly gun friendly state, but I never gave it a thought when I moved here 20 years ago.

But that list is similar to what I was looking for. I think it is the same information. That should give you some good info to work with.

I think the info I was looking at was newer than that 1999 data, but according to their critiera, the most gun friendly states in 1999 were Kentucky, Maine, Wyoming, Louisiana, and Montana. They all received the grade of F from HCI.

If you want to see some scary firearms legislation, go to the Brady Campaign site given above by JohnK, and read about the Connecticut laws!

:uhoh:

Indiana is a gun-friendly state. Easy to get a carry permit, no limits on magazine capacity, Class III, and we also honor everyone else's carry permits. It's a shame not every state can say that.
