Yes HD taxes are a main concern also. I'm not sure where I'll be when I retire but it sure as hell wount be Illinois. Our last 2 governers one is in jail, the previous one Blago(as most have heard)is going to jail. Our current gov Quinn wants to raise the state income tax from 3% to 4.5% to help pay for the corruption.you may also what to cross reference those states suggested here with the ones in Tax Freedom Day by State. I'm in NJ and our gun laws suck plus we are Taxed to Death so I'm looking for gun friendly & more affordable
Definately not Washington. Cannot conceal carry in any of State parks, No NFA items and a very liberal ultra left-wing government that is seeking to restrict all of our gun freedoms. Don't think its even legal to carry your gun into a restaurant that serves alcohol here, but I could be wrong. The mayor of Seattle is calling for an outright gun ban in Seattle. He is trying to push his agenda all over the state. I am thinking Oregon would be a better place to live and am considering how to get back south of the border. I really would love to own a short barreled rifle or shotgun, but cannot do so in WA state. Can anyone tell more about Colorado? I hear its a nice state, I assume its rather liberal like Oregon, but hasn't been overcomed by the socialist radical laws yet. I am surprised a left-wing radical state like Vermont has good gun laws, that won't last long though.washington...
AZ has all that plus much more, including no civil liability for justified actions, no AWB, no magazine limit/ban, no ammunition type ban, no 50 cal ban, no one-gun-a-month, no Firearms Identification Card, no permit to purchase, no permit to open carry, no waiting period, (unless you count the 15 minutes for the telephone background check, which doesn't happen with your Shall-Issue AZ CCW permit), lots of room, and your CCW permit is a carry concealed WEAPON, no restriction on what type or how many. NFA friendly, so if you have an old Mac-10 with an original SMZ rig, you may lawfully carry it concealed with your AZ permit.

Which state has the following in place..
1. "Shall issue" CCW permit
2. Legal to open carry
3. Has a history of both #1 and 2 (so that it is not just a political fad that will more than likely go away)
4. Has "Castle Doctrine" in place
Indiana does have one strange law. You must have a permit to even transport an unloaded, cased firearm in the trunk of your car. Which means, no going to the range to shoot without a permit. Other than that, sounds good to me. My wife and I are going to apply for the PA Non-resident permit which IN honors. Then, at least we can travel across the border of IL, (where we exist now ), to a range in IN.
new mexico is really good for it.
Jim in Anchorage said:MG and DD/Class 3 legal - state LEO will sign if local doesn't
Was that always true? I seem to remember Monegan would never sign off,so no MG for you if you lived in the Muni.
Whats "Castle Law"..? also, 6 gunner said he sometimes puts his gun in the back window, I thought someone told me this was illegal in Indiana now....?
How about Texas? Don't flame me, it's an honest question...
.....left out Utah....... Only problem there is you need a permit to carry in the open.
