Most rounds fired in a single range session?

My average is about 150-200 rounds. I shoot more if I have more than one caliber with me. Then, it's usually about 150 rounds of 9x18, and 100 of 9x19, or something like that.

700 or 750. 400 through my Thompson, 200 through some of my pistols (all .45), and 100 or 150 through a rental MP5. That was a very expensive day...

A couple weeks ago I went shooting full auto stuff. We went through 6,000 of so rounds of 5.56 between 4 people and 2 M16 with the LMG uppers.

Along with about 2000 rounds of 9mm in some sub guns

One thing I've never understood: How do you guys shoot this much, or afford to buy this much ammo? The most I've done is like 200 20ga., maybe 300 .22, 100 .223, and about 50 .38 .

Nate, I normally buy two WWB valuepacks of .45, and shoot one. If I shoot through one box and want to shoot more, I buy it at the range. At the moment, I have 700 to 800 rounds of .45 in my bedroom for the next time I decide to have a long day at the range.

Most of my range sessions are only ~100 rounds, every weekend.

Mine was a one-time ordeal, on the 5th of July in remembrance of someone special that had recently departed. I normally have ~250-350 rds of 7.62x39 on hand; Federal makes 625rd Valu-Paks of .22LR for about $10.00, and I had recently bought a 440-rd "sardine tin" of 7.62x54R for my M44 (gosh I miss that hunk o' junk...)

I felt that the best way to let off the steam and to show appreciation for my uncle was to fire everything I had for as long as I could at everything I saw with as much as I could carry.

:D

Never felt the need to do it again after that.

In my case, the .45 ACP was my own reloads, .30-30 is cheap, I had several thousand rounds of surplus .308, (cheap) I don't have to tell you how cheap .22 LR is, so the only thing I had that was pricey was .44 Mag. And as you can see, it was only one box.:D

That day was really quite thrifty. And the grin factor was huge.:D

My brothers and I shot 10,000rds through two Glocks (G20 and G29) during a final funcion/ accuracy testing day testing 10mm DoubleTap Ammunition.

A friend of mine, who makes entirly too much money, went out recently and expended:
1200 .308 thru an M1 (It was the Aussie stuff. Only 3 failures-to-feed, and no duds from a dirty gun.)
1500 7.62 milsurp thru a couple of SKS's
1000 9mm (glock 17)
500 .45 (glock 21)
800 .22 (would have been more, but the extractor on the 10/22 died after several thousands of rounds)
120 12 ga. shotshells
50 .45/70, w/500 grain bullets ("Let's make that brakedrum dance!")

I have never before seen a .375 HRS plate shot thru before, and there was a veritable massacre of deceased stuffed animals (he has childhood issues), pumpkins, tomato-paste cans, and junked computer parts.

Cleanup of the site and weaponry was...time consuming. But, he's feeling much better now.
