Country music singer: NRA to blame for Las Vegas festival mass shooting

When I was a girl there was a country music group that was gaining in popularity and was pretty much predicted would become one of the big names in the gendre. Then had some concert, I believe it was someplace overseas, they made some pretty disparaging remarks about the President of the United States at the time. I'm not sure but I don't even think the Dixie Chicks are even a group anymore. They went from rising stars to cow patty from a tall steer practically overnight.

It's a pity they didn't include their influences from another veteran country music star by the name of Mister Cash. Specifically the song about a music group that the last line when something like – – "play your banjos well. And if you have political convictions, keep em to yourself " I predict this guy will share the same fate. You don't diss the people that you make your living from and expect to succeed.

the Dixie Chicks are still around, and supposedly repentant for their stupidity.
doesn't matter much to me though, as i'm not a modern country fan.

Stupid people say stupid things. Can't understand why people care what they think. Most of these idiots just say what they think their fan base want to hear but I don't think it's going to have the desired effect this time. Seems to forget what happened with the Dixie Chicks.

I don't listen to much country but when I do, it's Hank Williams or Marty Robbins, maybe as new as George Strait or Dwight Yoakam, not this modern redneck pop.

To those who continue to say the founding fathers could not have forseen machine guns or semi automatic weapons when they wrote the second amendment, I say this...
they also could not have forseen radio, TV, mass print media, or the internet.
So, does that mean the 1st amendment does not apply to anything but speaking on a corner, or hand printed pamphlets?

Personally I don't care what they think, but I do care about the negative influence they may have on others.... :fire:

Ha, exactly!

Our founding fathers may have not been able to foresee modern firearms but they certainly understood that weaponry of their day would continue to evolve both in form and function. Their single shot black powder muskets and pistols must have seemed extremely advanced when compared to sticks and stones of early man. 10 years ago lasers, particle beams and rail guns were concepts, today they are operational weapon systems. It's hard to imagine the systems that may be conceptual and in early development right now that could be operational in another 10 years. What ever comes to reality, I want!

All of our main stream technology; mobile phone, modes of transportation, currency, etc. will continue to evolve at an exponential rate, science will see to it. The US Constitution and Bill of Rights is the "North Star" for this country and our way of life. Loose interpretation to fit a political agenda and goal will hopefully come to a stop. Otherwise I'm afraid a "reset" will be required in the not to distant future.

Change has been happening since the very beginning, and it will continue far beyond all our lifetimes.

I encourage everyone on any side of any debate to vote as it's pretty much the strongest voice the 'common masses' have left now.

Even then, somebody, somewhere won't like the outcome.

Never heard of him.

Sounds like his attorney told him to go on record condemning the NRA as a way to shield himself from lawsuits. MGM is suing people who were suing them and blaming MGM for the shooting. MGM certainly could sue Church for lax security at the venue he was performing at. A preemptive statement can help in such a situation.

In any event, since I never heard of him or a single tune he croons, his statement means nothing to me...and I hope it leads legions of fans to say adios so it ultimately bites him in the arse!!

Stay safe!

Still, all voices need to be heard. Even the ones we don't agree with.
We certainly need to listen to those we don't agree with.
When it is just another celebrity with a microphone spouting talking points from the anti 2A crowd, I've already heard it. This guy and many others are not capable of critical thought and this country is better off when they don't vote.

Yep, here in AZ where I just moved after escaping from CA I found a "classic country" radio station, they play country music from the 60's to the 90's, not the fake stuff from today. Haha and they have a feature called "Second Amendment Minute" with a short monologue by the mayor of a nearby town. And when they make a promotion the giveaways are free tickets to gun shows. :)

Don't forget to include Jason Aldean in this club...... :cuss:

Merle...what was Waylon like??? J/K couldn't resist

I think I'll continue to...

A) Listen to and enjoy his music on the radio.

B) Not care what celebrites thinks about politics.

Agreed, but have to admit didn't expect this from Eric Church

Yep modern country isnt very country anymore. Sturgil Simpson,Cody jinks ,and Whitey Morgan are some of my favorites for newer artist that keep it traditional. We'll sturgil isn't exactly country but he's good.

But if you go out into the "sticks" you will find that being out in the country isn't very country anymore either. My grandfather used to talk about there being four farmers per section, now there's four sections for farm. And a quarter of the people that are living out in the country would be hard-pressed to tell you what a section is. We don't have farmers anymore we have agribusinessmen. And the lowly moldboard plow pulled by a two cylinder tractor has been replaced by one pass planters pulled by million-dollar machines. The music has changed with the time.
