I am moving soon from California to florida. I have a gun permit for two firearms. My question is can i transfer my California gun permit to florida to get a florida gun permit? Or do I have to give up my firearms?:(:(..Any help out there? Could us it...

The sad news is that, no, you won't be able to register your guns in Florida. The good news is that they don't have gun registration in Florida. You just move there, bring your guns, and start enjoying some freedom.

Florida is not nearly as repressive as California.
Move in with your guns. There is no registration or permit to own.
When you have a Florida drivers license and residence, put in for a carry permit.

You have been institutionalized. Get ready for freedom. It takes people a while to get used to it sometimes.

No permits here in FL, and it is a "shall issue" state for concealed carry. No open carry unless hunting or fishing.

Biggest question probably is how you remove your guns from the Californian system given they are registered there, and then just make sure you know how you're going to transport them interstate correctly in compliance with any federal and state laws for transporting firearms depending on whether you are flying or driving.

Can you elaborate more?

CA doesn't have a permit to own guns.

You either have a Concealed Weapon permit or you have a Firearm Safety Certificate (FSC) which allows you to buy guns but is not required to own them in CA.

The FSC doesn't list any guns at all.... it's just needed to buy.

The CA concealed weapons permit, I believe, requires you to list the guns you want to carry but not all guns. And it's not required to own guns either..

There is a form for that but it isn't required by CA and it doesn't prevent you from selling it later in another state.

It has a section regarding moving out of CA.

Others have given you very good advice.

It sounds like you're a little unclear on what the laws are in California, but regardless you'll find Florida to be far less restrictive.

You should spend some time reading this:
https://www.nraila.org/gun-laws/state-gun-laws/florida/

That will get you almost all the information you're going to need about owning firearms in FL.

This page will give you a lot more detail about carrying a firearm in FL: http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/florida.pdf

Enjoy your new freedoms. :)

Don’t worry about removing your guns from the California registration. When I moved to Arizona, I inquired about that, it’s not possible. All that “No Longer in Possession” form will do is notify the CA DOJ of your new where-abouts and once you leave CA, it’s none of their business. Besides, it’s for when you are no longer in possession, not for when you have removed it from CAs jurisdiction.

Ps. When you get to Florida, make sure your pass port is up to date. If you go back to visit in CA, you may need it to get back into the US. [Inset sarcasm.]

Guessing we should call this one done as it seems to be drawing flies.

Good luck on your move.
