MP5 Suggestions

Oh sure there's always the MK5 but this isn't really an MP5 clone it's a whole new weapon.

It uses UMP magazines but MP5 roller-locked closed bolt operation.
It can quickly swap calibers, unlike the MP5...

Thing is, it'll be $2.2k. That's at least $700 more than an MP5 clone.

Also there's no -Kurz or -SD MK5 variant, so if you want those I suggest checking out Vector or Cohaire ARms.

Cohaire arms is another brand of bobcat, made infamous by the evil Todd Bailey. Professional Arms isn't one of his sub companies and i kinda like that straight mags of the UMP! 2008 was said to be the street release date.

Do you have to deal with barrel length laws like we do in the USA or are the laws in Switzerland sensible enough to where they don't care about the barell length...

Just wondering...

As an aside, I've also seen that there are some short barrel rifles allowed in France, as they don't care about barrel length, i.e. a Krink style Saiga.

Someone fill us in on Vector

Vector MP5 clones are built using Special Weapons/Cohaire parts, just like the Bobcat ones are. The Vector clones are generally regarded as a bit better than the Cohaire or the Bobcat clones since they have the Vector warranty and customer service. Both the Cohaire and the Bobcat clones are regarded as decent guns, but many of them have to have the extractor spring replaced initially. The general consensus on hkpro and ar15.com is that Vector > Bobcat > Cohaire. Todd Bailey has stated that Cohaire will no longer supply Vector or Bobcat with parts anymore, so it looks like Cohaire might be the only game in town until the MK5 comes out.

This is not true. Cohaire Arms is a company owned by Todd Bailey, but he is not the owner of Bobcat. Bobcat used to have a business agreement with Special Weapons/Cohaire the same way that Vector did. Todd Bailey has never owned any part of Bobcat. He did help them get started, but has since parted ways.

Out of curiosity does anyone have any experience with Kestrel mp5 style stocks for the Ruger 10/22? Stumbled across their website while checking out some different types of 10/22's. Seems like a fun alternative to owning an MP5 or just a fun way to play soldier while conducting varmint control. Here's their website:

Rgardless, iv'e only heard bad about Todd Bailey. I don't want anything to do with him, or a company he helped start up.

Minimal barrel length regulation only for hunting rifles.
No restriction on barrel length, Magazine capacity or any senseless laws generally.

Hollow point ammo are forbidden for cilivian, only for police and hunters.

For Fullautos and silencer we've to apply a collector licens.
