Howdy, Here is my new 1847 Colt Walker I bought from a Uberti Kit. It is a beauty.

Before and after pics. The before pics aren't totally before pics though. I started working on it, then took some pics. Sorry. The blue is kinda stressed to make it look oldish.

Birchwood casey "perma blue" Ya know, that stuff that comes in the tube, it's like paste. It works pretty good.

OH..sorry, I havn't been on for a few days.

I got the kit from dixiegunworks.com. They are the best for shipping. It only took 4 days to arrive. I was emailed with the tracking number and stuff the next day. This kit was amazing too! I opened it up thinking..wow! I just saved over $100, and this gun is pretty much done. All you have to do is, blue it(if you want), sand the grips how you like, and sand the trigger gaurd. Everything else was ready to go, and done. It came out of the box looking like a new nickel plated gun. I was amazed and very happy. It's also nice to see the gun "come along" when your working on it. I am only getting kits from now on. I would seriously recommend a kit. You save tons, and the work you have to do is minimal. Definiatly worth it!

And yes they do have 1860's. Army and Navy at dixiegunworks as kits.

I shot a squirrel today..wooeey! Guts everywhere!

EDIT: I said in my post above that they had 1860 armies and navy. I just looked, and they must be working on the site or something, because they only had 1 page of guns when there was 3 pages of guns, and I know I saw the 1860 Army, but now, they dont have half the guns they did when I ordered mine. So Im confused. Maybe there adding more guns to it or something?

As of 6/10 0655 EDT,

A search on the word "kit" at DGW found 209 items; 9 were revolver kits (on the next to last page):
Pietta Spiller & Burr $165
"Dixie" Walker $225 (no mfr specified, but ad says same features as the finished Walker by Palmetto)
Euroarms Rogers & Spencer $295
Uberti Walker $265
"Dixie" brass frame Remington $182.50 (no mfr specified, says made in Italy)
Euroarms 1858 Remington $225
"Dixie" brass frame 1851 Navy $150 (no mfr specified, says made in Italy)
Pietta 1858 Remington w/oversize frame & grips $185
Texas or Buffalo revolver $115 (no mfr specified and Dixie won't even put their name on it)

So, pretty good selection.

If the Dixie kit Walker is Palmetto, I'd keep as far away from it as possible, for $40.00 more you can get a far superior Uberti. Go that Route and save your time and money for another kit made by ANYONE but Palmetto. They do not have a good reputation. haphazard is the word that comes to mind.

yeah, I was about to get the Kit from Dixie untill I saw it was made by Palmetto. It was definiatly worth the wait to get the extra bucks for the Uberti. The quality is impressive.

I need help IDing my 1847 Colt Walker
I just bought it but am having a real hard time finding any manufacture markings on this gun. Let me ask a few questions.
1. Do all makers of the Walker have the retaining clip for the rammer?
2. Is there anyplace that I am not looking like maybe under the grips?
It seems to be a well made Pistol but i would like to know who the manufacture is any help would be appreciated.
I have not seen the A.S.M. or the S.M. markings I dont know if that is good or bad?

Texas or Buffalo revolver $115 (no mfr specified and Dixie won't even put their name on it)

I don't know for sure about the kits but the Texas or Buffalo revolvers are made by Pietta. I love mine. I'm going to get the stock for it and see if I can get a deer with it. I was talking to a guy here that has a 1858 carbine and he shoots deer with his. I suspect a Lee 200 grain conical and 30 grains of trip7 should do it.
