My belt is running out of room.

Where do you carry your large cell phone and how does that fit in with the rest of what you carry?

I can conceal an N-Frame easier than I can find a place for my smart-phone. The problem pretty much stems from the fact that the gun goes on my strong side leaving only my weak side for my Leatherman and phone. Either the phone is too far forward for comfort, the phone is too far back to be accessed easily, or the Leatherman is too far forward for comfort. I can imagine the problem is worse when you're carrying a spare magazine and don't want to expose it when accessing your phone or knife.

How do you do it?

Over-accessorizing is a common dilemma for all metro-men these days. And with stylish trimmer waistlines, well let's face it, belts just are not as big as they used to be, so either you get a larger man-bag to hold everything or pony up the bucks for some smart techno-solutions like this.

I carry a pistol No cell phone needed or wanted I carry knife clipped to my pants pocket
I believe 99% of the people who have these things. Could do with out them . Try it for 30 days enjoy the freedom of not jumping to a silly noise to have a conversation that could have waited till you got home or returned to office. That way you will have lots of room on you belt and peace and quiet .

Carry your cell phone in your pocket. I usually carry mine in my left back pocket. I can't stand to wear a case that fits on my belt, it just isn't comfortable for me.

I tried carrying a knife case on my belt and don't like that either. I'm stuck with pocket clipped knives and IWB holsters at the moment for this reason.

Gain weight. Bigger waistline means longer belt, so, more room. Problem solved. (That's how I did it, though I wasn't meaning to!)

I had a cell phone since they first came out. Then a pager and a cell phone. Then a texting pager and a cell phone. Seven years ago I did an about-face. Most liberating decision I ever made.

My wife is still paying $70 a month for the priveledge of being interrupted 24/7, no matter where she is or what she is doing. That is her choice.

If you want to get ahold of me, call me at home or at work, or email me...I'll get back to you.

The only thing I give up is the ability to call 911 at the drop of a hat. Since I have never called 911 in my life, I am willing to assume that risk. If the wife is with me, she can call. If not...see above.

I don't carry a knife.
If I have room for anything extra after gun/reloads/keys/wallet/phone, then I'll carry a flashlight over a knife. IMO phone > flashlight > knife, in importance. As always, YMMV.

Knife in weak side back pocket, cz on my strongside hip, wallet weak side front pocket, cell phone in strongside front pocket. It works out pretty well

I carry intirelly to much stuff. Either glock 19 IWB or OWB right side, or the 1911 in the same. Kershaw folder in my right front pocket, droid left side on belt above the front pocket, Copenhagen back left pocket, wallet back right, keys front left.
After all of that I don’t have much room for anything else. Some times I move the keys to a dring and hang off a belt loop. Any time im at work the pockets get dumped and everything goes on the desk.

Don't see how what you carry can be a problem. I carry my primary CCW strongside, BUG weakside, extra ammo left side between the first two belt loops, cell phone right side between first two belt loops, knife pouch over left hip. It doesn't feel crowded at all to me and everything is in easy reach.

Try a horizontal sheath for the Leatherman?

Well I MUST carry not only a company cell phone but a pager as well 24/7.
And then more times than not I also am carrying a micro .380 in a Bulldog cell phone style holster on that belt.
Getting crowded here.
Top that off with todays thin pseudo leather Chinese made belts that only give you 3.7 months of use before disposing of it then you get to start the entire process all over again.

After I stopped carrying inside the waistband, I no longer have anything on my belt.

J frame in my strongside pocket. Cell phone and keys in my other. Wallet in the back pocket. Speed strip in my other back pocket. Knife clipped to my back pocket next to my wallet.

I understand the OP has a phone that would be uncomfortable for pocket carry but I use this as an exampl of being able to carry a few things without ever going to teh belt at all.

i was just thinking about this yesterday as it looks like everyone is "printing" with these huge cell phones...so now not quite so worried about the occasional print since probably assumed it's a smartphone!

strong side IWB a jframe 60 weakside a DroidX with a Bianchi strip pouch next to it.
weak side front pocket naa minimag or jframe 340
strong side front loose speed strip or speedloader w/knife clipped
weak side back wallet w/a small 80lumen light
strong side back a pocket Bible w/ Victorinox camper

If you carry a gun, you should certainly carry a phone. You're far more likely to need the phone than the gun in an emergency situation (of which there are MANY kinds), and if you do end up needing the gun, and you prevail (... or nearly prevail ... or don't prevail but aren't quite dead yet), the phone should be the very next thing you reach for.

Report what happened, establish yourself as the complainant, bring medical assistance for yourself and/or others.

You don't have to have it glued to your ear, or even on most of the time, but in this age of easy access to emergency communications, not availing yourself of the ability to contact law enforcement and EMS is -- IMHO -- bordering on irresponsible.

I also 'have' to carry a cellphone. Mostly to receive email, because it's much more convenient than a laptop. As Sam posted, you don't "have" to have it in your ear all the time. I certainly don't. Although I do still have a little panic attack every time I hear a Nextel beep, from those years of being on call and dreading hearing that God-awful sound. ;)

My Blackberry goes into a holster of the same brand, clipped into my left front pocket. My CRKT knife gets clipped into my right front pocket. Then I usually carry a small Case pocketknife in my front right pocket for more utilitarian purposes. Keys get clipped onto a belt loop in the right front and my wallet goes into my left rear pocket. Leaving the right rear and front left pockets empty and available.

Hey, what ever happened to Dick Tracy's old "two way wrist radio" idea?

Cell Phone, keys, wallet, glasses and when I can I carry a gun. Of any of these things only the gun goes on the belt.
I haven't used a flashlight outside of my own workspace in ... five years? Even knives I end up using so little I lose them and don't even notice.

What do you people do all day?!

I too have stopped carrying the cell phone, and it is rather liberating. I keep an FRS/GMRS radio in the car, along with a Tracfone, but I don't keep one on me 24/7.

Wallet in back pocket, knife clipped to a pocket (depends on the knife, usually front pocket, right now its in my back pocket), flashlight (maybe) in front pocket (certainly in the car)

Car keys clipped to belt loop, unless I'm at work and then they go in the desk. Work keys and ID badge are the only thing on my belt most days. For me, less is more.

I work in areas where I'm not allowed to possess a cell phone with a camera so a big ol' smart phone is out of the question for me. I normally wear carpenter's jeans and I keep my cell phone in the deeper of the two side pockets.

When I'm away from work I usually wear shorts with cargo pockets. I have a couple of Lee cargo shorts that have a small pocket behind one of the large cargo pockets that's perfect for my cell phone.

As much as I hate stuff in my front pocket it's where I carry my cell phone when I wear regular trousers.

I usually carry a Kahr PM-9 appendix style with a magazine carrier about 8 o'clock on my weak side. When I carry a knife I clip it inside the waistband of my pants at about 5 o'clock. I carry a small (single AAA battery) Streamlight Microstream clipped to my weak side pocket.

I carry my pistol on my right hip. I have a plastic holster for my phone that I clip into my right front pocket. Only the holster clip is in my pocket, the phone itself is outside my pocket. It shifts my phone lower and more towards the front. It doesn't get in the way of my pistol at all. My pistol is carried in a crossbred super tuck and I wear jeans and a t shirt. My phone is one of the fairly big HTC smart phones. I also have my knife clipped into the same pocket and it doesn't interfere with phone clip at all.
