My choice- Lever action .22 for all purpose small rifle.

After a lot of deliberation about a good all purpose .22, I decided on a Henry. This last range trip confirmed that it was a good choice.

Accurate.- It was easy to shoot sub 1" groups at 50 yards.
Reliable- I fed it about 10 different brands and case lengths.
Able to feed all types of. 22- LR, Long, Short and my favorite - Aguila with no powder.
Excellent magazine capacity.

My definite choice for a emergency (we need to live in the woods for a little while) small game and "hushpuppy" defense rifle.

A Marlin take down would be nicer, but the little Henry should outlast me and a couple of generations. I just hope they stay American owned.

My father bought my son a youth model Henry lever action. I put a red dot scope on the dovetail. It is an awesome little gun. Very accurate too.

Those CB rounds are just too much fun, aren't they? And you can stuff a LOT of CB shorts in the tube!

Henry vs Browning....

I debated on which Lever action rifle to buy in .22.
The Henry had my interest. Brass with a hex barrel. Man that gun was fine.
Then my dealer pulled out a Browning.
It was smaller and lighter than the Henry.
The lever throw was only 20 degrees, and that caught my attention.
There was a big difference in price that just won me over...$325.00 for the Browning and $469.00 for the Henry.
I have never regretted buying the Browning, but I am now taking a second look at the Henry in 357.
I wrote a question in the rifle section and am pondering the replies before I make that decision to buy.

I have two Henry .22LRs (one a golden boy) and a Henry in .22Mag with octagon barrel. They are all good shooters and 3 grandkids enjoy shooting the .22LR's.
I doubt you will ever regret purchasing your Henry.

LIO own a Marlin 39A which I purchased new in 1955 with some money I had left over after buying a '55 Chevrolet. Never had a problem. No idea what the new one are like. Had a Henry for a few years and sold it. Had too many plastic fittings but I have heard those have been eliminated and replaced with metal.

+1 on the Browning BL22. It's just a little sweetheart. I know several folks with Henry's and they are all very accurate. The older Marlins are good, too.
