Let's kick this off so that we can share with others and each other about public ranges that we really like. Google searches find THR threads so...make sure you give a location so we can find each other's spots should we need to do so.
My favorite public range is on the border of Caldwell and Hopkins counties in jones keeney wma. The range is nice in that it is covered and on concrete slab, goes out to around 150m and has iron plates open to obliteration by handgun calibers from 30m out to 150m what really sets this place above the rest is the land it sits on. Just up the hill in Hopkins county is archery club rd which winds along through the wma to an archery range one one side and cemetery on the other. From the iron gate closing the rd it's about a 1/2 mile hike to 2 different waterfalls, one of which eroded out a nice natural bridge. Gorgeous hike combined with good shooting. Add to that a baseball game at riverside park and good fishing in lake beshear 5 miles east and world class rock climbing at the bluffs 5 miles west. This place is pretty close to heaven on earth.
Highway 62 on the border of Hopkins and Caldwell county in western ky near a town called Dawson Springs.
