Congrats! I bought my first 1911 when i was living in California and it too was a Springfield Stainless Loaded. I paid $700 and it had $1400 in receipts from Jim Hoag's custom shop. I got an amazing deal and its still my favorite 1911 due to its unmatched accuracy and being my first 1911. On a rest it out shoots my other 1911 much more expensive wearing the Wilson,Fusion,STI,and Nighthawk.

I recently had it re-finished with Cerakote to match springfields new black stainless loaded.

robctwo: actually it IS a .45.....the link I provided was just to take me to the picture of the SS loaded that had the correct grip coloring I was looking for, but did not get on my .45. A 1911 in 9mm - hmmm, while I guess some would say it's heresy.....I want one anyway. :D

To the OP: Olympus has posted a few times, and has humbly not touted his craftsmanship. (hint) Look at his sig line. He makes some awfully nice looking grips out of a variety of woods. If you wan't checkered grips though, you'll likely have to move away from small-shop craftsmen.

Nice gun. Other than grips, don't get too carried away with mods until you've shot it a bunch. It doesn't sound like you've got "gotta mod it" craziness tho ;).

Novaks will fix you up with night sights. You can send them your whole slide and they'll do it all.

Kingofthehill: do you have pics of your black stainless?? That sounds awesome!

BadKharma- See how all the only the flats are stainless and the rest are black, thats what Springfield called it "BlackStainless" where kimber went with "Eclipse"
