The rifle = Remington 700 SPS Tactical, 20" heavy barrel, Nikon Pro-Staff 3-9x, .308 caliber

The handload = 44.5 grains of IMR 4064, 168 gr Sierra SMK, Prvi cases, Rem large rifle primer

5 shots at 300 yards, prone with a forend rest :

Wind was about 10mph, quartering cross-wind. I still aimed for the center point, 9 inches high, it pushed about 3" off the center line, less than I expected. For my first time, I consider this to be pretty damn good.:)

I'm pretty sure my zero is about 250 yards, as my group at 200 yards, was 2" high.

I did put 3 out of 5 shots inside 1.25", pretty phenomonal, I just don't know which three they were, lol.

Great going Redneck.. Shot one box today out of mine too.. Just 100 yards again since that was the best I could find up in the hills today.. first clover leaf at 100 for me with this gun:D.. Group was .38 as best as I could measure. Still shooting federal GMM 168's. Pretty great guns right out of the box;)

Great job, Redneck!

Had me a nice .640" 4 shot group yesterday at 200yrds, but my 5th shot opened it up to an even 2":D

Certainally very good shooting but I will offer you some caution.

Statistically a single five shot group can be somewhat misleading.

Shoot one,let the gun cool down and shoot another.
Keep on and if you can obtain similar results with 3 or 4 groups
you know you are really on to something.

Not saying this is what you did but I laugh when some bonehead at my club
starts crowing about some great group he shot then when questioned you find he shot all afternoon and 8 out of ten groups he shot were three times the size of the bragging group!

You seem to have your gun, reloads and technique pretty much dialed in but only being able to repeat the results will prove it.

Again- absolutely not raining on your parade- Good shooting-keep at it!

Great shooting, but i also have a suggestion. Shoot some steel tgts. so u can get the "audible gratification" factor going as well.

Call the local brickyard and see if they have some cinder block molds that have gotten out of spec. They'll probably give them to u. Get a torch and blow some holes in them to suspend using s-hooks off of rubber bungee cords or some that are closed on one end that r on tie down straps (these can be found on the road if the wife lets u pick up freebies--mine doesn't). Get 3 pieces of rod material (rebar's great). Get 2 copper or galvanized plumbing T's. Pound 2 rods into the ground, put the T's on top and slide the last rebar thru the T's parallel to the ground. Hang the steel off it. Voila--cheapest, most portable steel tgts. u'll ever shoot. Oh yeah, get the dollar paint from Wal-Mart (white, not black) just to keep up with the el cheapo theme.

Redneck with a 40, you're getting good with that 700, and you and I seem to be the only folks shooting without a rear support, just a bipod or equivalent up front (I use an AI bipod). I shot an F-Class "tactical" match yesterday. We call it "tactical" since we shoot F-Class targets but include two rapid fire strings at 200 yards (10 shots in 60 seconds) and 300 yards (10 shots in 70 seconds). Here's my 300 yard target. Temperature was about 80F, wind 5 to 10 mph (variable) from 2 o'clock, elevation about 50 feet above sea level, lots of mirage, no rear support, prone with bipod. My two sighters are marked ... I made an error and adjusted the wrong way (windage) for my second sighter (not sure why). Two shots ruined the group, one at 6 o'clock, and one next to the eight but that's ok ... I'm new at this too. Oh ... rifle is a Remington .308 Win with a Krieger barrel.

Here are my 200 yard targets. You can see how it all starts to fall apart on the rapid stage. I had to remove a case by hand since my extractor is acting up and I didn't account for the barrel heating up. :( Those two shots in the 6 ring messed up my group ... great fun though.
