Finally got my first gun! A used Ruger 10/22. Turns out it's over 30 years old and still fires accurately and flawlessly! Thanks Ruger!

Anyway, I made a video (I know I'm a dork)

Check It Out Here!!

That's just about the best first gun ever!

The Ruger 10/22 also happens to be one of The Most Fun Guns Ever.

Now look into modifications for the 10/22...it's amazing.

I can't believe that you found a 10/22 that still looks like a 10/22 after thirty years! With so many options for that gun I would have bet that someone would have done something to it. But that is a great choice for a first 22 rifle! Good Luck with it.

My first firearm was also a Ruger 10/22. I was 12 years old and had saved up my money for a long time to get it. I probably had a perpetual smile on my face for a month. It's hard to guess how many rounds I have put through that rifle. I am guessing at least 30,000 with some of those being shot shells.

The rifle is now dinged up and scratched and would no doubt be viewed with considerable distaste if it was on a gun show table. Needless to say I would not trade or sell it for anything.

Great rifleI I love my little 10/22 carbine. It is great for taking care of most any yard pest of the four legged kind under 100 pounds. Plus it is a great rifle to learn marksmanship with.

My dad bought one when I was little and some where through the years he sold it off. Then about six or seven years later one of his friends said he knew a guy that wanted to sell a rifle. Turns out it was the exact same rifle my dad had sold years earlier. He gave it to me after he got it back.

The gun is twenty years old and shoots pretty good still. It needs a little work because my father in law left it sitting out in garage/barn for about a year. It still shoots pretty accurate and the wood is back to decent color. Twenty years and it will still take out an opossum, fox, or Pepsi bottle with one shot and mimum fuss.

Don't tell me I'm the only person to set up used glass cola bottles for target practice. It was rewarding to watch the bottles bust after punching paper.

Congrats on your rifle! That's a great gun and you'll have many good times with it I'm sure!

Congrats... it is awesome to see new shooters and their excitement... it is something that just never gets old...

A bit of advice, trash the see through rings and get a sandbag or shooting rest of some sort... Even a rolled up sweater works well... You simply need something that the gun can settle a bit into and still be steadied... you will be amazed at the difference that it makes.

Also... try some CCI ammo some time... will make it feel like a different gun.. MY 10/22 (and P22 for that matter) love the stingers... there are those who say not to do it.. but I love em...

safe shooting and congrats again.
