A belated welcome, and a congrats on choices for first firearm purchases. You'll undoubtedly find it can be a very fun and rewarding process. Like others mentioned SAFETY TRAINING. Your owners manuals are a good starting point, as they all outline the basics. If you commit them to memory and then to practice, that'll go a long way. Not sure if it was mentioned (and certainly don't want to insult your intelligence) invest in quality hearing protection even for shooting the .22.
Many have already gave solid advise, but I'll say just use the rules of safety always, know your local laws on self defense heaven forbid you ever are placed in a bad situation, and right now we are in the midst of a gun panic buying situation given the COVID and civil unrest of late so unfortunately inventory on guns and ammo is low and prices rising, even .22 ammo is becoming scarce so get as much as you can now because it may be months or possibly years before availability becomes normal again.Thank you! No insults here, I’m new to the hobby, looking to learn and absorb as much info as possible. Appreciate the advice!
But I did get us some good ear protection. We have both ear plugs and ear muffs. The .22 is relatively quiet, but we still wear protection regardless. We wear glasses as well when shooting.
Good choices on your 2 purchases. I, too, have both and for a fun factor, they can hardly be beat! Literally tons of upgrades for the 10/22 and more every day for the PC9. As others have said, a red dot sight for them, especially the PC9 brings it to a new level. You don`t have to spend your next paycheck for a good red dot sight although you could spend upwards of $5-600 easily enough if you wanted. I have a Sig Sauer Romeo 5 on my Draco and a Bushnell TRS 25 on my PC9 and neither one costs more than $140. Surf around on the web and you can find some pretty good deals on them.
Check YouTube for Paul Harrel and Hickok45 and you`ll soon bookmark them both. Good info there. Congrats on your new hobby...Good on `ya!
Oops, thought I`d read all the posts but clearly didn`t. Red dots are good tools...

ammoseek.com , everyday supply becomes less and less.
Most of us hope we are never put in a bad situation. Which situational awareness is as important as being armed. A gun won't help if you are caught off guard.I hope all I ever do is fire at targets, but it’s good to know we have some means to protect ourselves if necessary. The recent riots and backlash against the police really highlight how important the 2nd amendment really is.
Ive got about 2500 rounds of .22LR but low on 9mm. It’s hard to find right now. I just grab a few boxes here and there when I can.
Seek help now before it's to late, but I am afraid it is to late already and you can't be saved.....
That's a sweet looking side by side cdahl. Does it have screw-in choke tubes or are the barrels "pre-set" for certain choking? Is it referred to as a "coach gun" because it looks like it is fairly short (see below). If pre-set, what are the barrels actually marked?
I'm curious as I bought an old Stevens (circa 1960) in the late 80s and it was pre-set so I had it bored out and put in screw-in tubes as I use this gun for hunting as well as home defense.

Its a stoeger coach gun, 20” barrels, fixed chokes. One tube is improved cylinder the other is modified. The supreme model has screw in chokes but it was $100 more and figured I didn’t really need that. Of course I really didn’t need the gun itself either haha!
The Uplander is the longer version with 26” barrels. This one has the shorter 20” barrels.
