Cool, congrats! now just make sure you stip it down and get rid of all the cosmoline one way or another before you shoot it.

I shot one of my mosins for the first time last week, the cosmoline I thought I had gotten all out, seeped out and made it a less than desirable experience.

Looks good. Wartime production Mosin. If you got one with hex receiver dating back 1920s to 1930s , they re even nicer. Enjoy.

Now your hooked! It gets worse. The fever takes hold and to help ,you have to buy more .I know. I have it too. I own 6 and I ordered one for my Birthday.
Don't seek help it won't matter. Is no cure. Like the T.V show, once you get Fever your become one of the Walking Mosin's.

Get that thing out to a full distance range... like at least 500 yards. Crank that rear tangent up to the range you are shooting at, and let her rip. Usually those Ruskie armorers have them sighted in close enough to get a hit on a man-sized target. I don't know how many Mosins I've picked up and had them be dead on without having to drift the sights or anything.

They are pretty capable rifles for what you pay for them. If it was all I had in a SHTF or martial law type situation, I could still do some pretty serious damage to any poodle shooter-equipped bad guys by staying outside of their max effective range. Get yourself some stripper clips and practice with them, and you can get to where you can load pretty quickly, too.
